The cast for Pacific Rim director Guillermo del Toro‘s next project, a haunted house thriller titled Crimson Peak, had come together very nicely. Emma Stone was the first cast but eventually had to depart and was later replaced by Mia Wasikowska. Charlie Hunnam then joined the movie, followed by Jessica Chastain.
Star Trek Into Darkness and Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch also joined the cast a while back, but sadly, like Stone, he too has left the movie. Wasikowska, Hunnam, and Chastain are all still involved.
No information has been given yet as to why Cumberbatch left Crimson Peak, but it’s assumed to simply be scheduling conflict. The actor’s star grows larger every day, and because of this, his schedule too grows busier and busier.
The actor can next be seen in The Fifth Estate, 12 Years a Slave, and August: Osage County, as well as The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, in which he voices Smaug.
