We’ve been hearing about Supper Troopers 2 for quite a while now, as fans of Broken Lizard’s 2001 cult classic comedy have been asking about a follow-up for years. Back in 2009 we heard that the sequel was moving forward and Brian Cox would likely be back, and in 2012 word came that a script for the movie had been completed and turned in.
Now comes word from Broken Lizard that Super Troopers 2 is officially happening, and that it’s their next project. Continue reading to see what they had to say about it.
Speaking on their Chewin’ It with Kevin and Steve podcast, Lizard members Steve Lemme and Kevin Heffernan made the announcement:
Lemme: “Super Troopers 2. It is happening.”Heffernan: “That’s the next movie. People ask ‘What’s the next movie?’ That’s the next movie.”
Lemme: “The script is written, the deal has been agreed on with the studio, we are in the stage though where we need to raise the financing. It’s nothing out of the ordinary. The studio is just the distributor and we are the ones who have to bring the money to the table. So it’s a lot of money that we have to raise.”
While they still need to raise the money, it doesn’t sound like that will be a problem that could cause complications at all. In fact, they say that the plan is to hopefully start filming this summer so long as schedules work out and such.
As for what the sequel will be about, that’s not yet been revealed, though it does sound like it will pick up where the last movie left off.
If interested in listening to the podcast you can do so right here. They start talking about Super Troopers 2 at about the 12 minute mark.
