It was ranked as the seventh best Star Trek movie by hardcore Trek fans and now, Galaxy Quest — the 1999 scifi action comedy that was not, in fact, part of the Trek universe, but sure as hell came close — is going to live on in a new comic book series from IDW called Galaxy Quest: The Journey Continues.
The film starred Tim Allen as Jason Nesmith, an actor who was on a scifi TV series very similar to Star Trek called Galaxy Quest, where he played a character very much like Captain Kirk. The cast members reunite at a convention, where they are approached by a group of aliens who enlist the actors to help them against a warlord, because they believe the events of the television series are Earth’s actual history.
Written by Erik Burnham with art by Nacho Arranz, the 32-page full-color Galaxy Quest: The Journey Continues #1 was released today, Wednesday, January 21, 2015; check out the preview of this first issue here below.
