Kevin Spacey has played an eclectic mix of roles. Deranged murder, nasty cricket, a horrible boss, Lex Luthor, and a manipulative politician, the actor has proven that he isn’t afraid to take on any role.
Following his two wins at the SAG and Golden Globes for his work on Netflix’s House of Cards, Spacey has signed on for a high-concept comedy from Barry Sonnenfeld titled Nine Lives, where he will play a man who gets trapped in a cat’s body. That is no joke. Hit the jump for more details.
According to The Wrap, the film will center on a high-strung workaholic businessman whose mind gets trapped in a cat’s body after a terrible accident. It’s not clear if this is a Freaky Friday situation, where the cat’s mind is stuck in the businessman’s body or if putting the businessman’s mind in the cat’s body was the only way to save him. Either way, Kevin Spacey as a cat sounds hilarious.
Sonnenfeld describes Daniel Antoniazzi and Ben Shiffrin‘s script as “funny, emotional, commercial comedy.” Commercial comedy meaning this won’t be an indie comedy and something that the general audience would be interested in watching.
Spacey is currently filming the role of Richard Nixon in Liza Johnson’s indie Elvis & Nixon. He was last seen reprising his role of Dave Harken in Horrible Bosses 2.
Oddly enough, this won’t be the first time that Spacey has played a cat. Check him out in the Ameowdeaus video below. Maybe if we are lucky enough, Christoph Waltz will play a nefarious hamster in Nine Lives.
