Jimmy Fallon, The Tonight Show host and lip-syncing, superlative-making, barbershop quartet-ing, face-balling, lip-flipping uber fan, kicked off his week in sunny LA today with a frame-by-frame recreation of the opening sequence to the The Fresh Prince of Bel Air TV show theme song. In Fallon’s parody, the former SNL cast member tells the story of how he became host of the long-running late night talk show and why he’s bringing The Tonight Show from its current home at Studio 6B at Rockefeller Center in New York City to Los Angeles, CA, its former home for nearly 42 years.
Check out the video here below.
The parody, complete with Higgins in the “Mom” getup and his Tonight Show house band The Roots, also has cameos by Fresh Prince alumns, DJ Jazzy Jeff and Alfonso Ribeiro (Carlton Banks). Guess what dance he does in this video?
Guests scheduled for the show this week, taking place at Universal Studios, Hollywood, are Vin Diesel, Jennifer Lopez, and the Fresh Prince himself Will Smith (of course).
Before arriving in LA today, Fallon and crew hosted a special post-Super Bowl episode of The Tonight show on Sunday night live from the Orpheum Theater in Phoenix, Arizona, near where the big game was played. The show saw an epic lip-sync battle with Will Ferrell, Kevin Hart, and the host, who received some surprise help from Drew Barrymore; a Terminator moment with Arnold Schwarzenegger; an appearance by New England Patriots players Danny Amendola, Brandon LaFell, and LeGarrette Blount fresh off their Super Bowl win; musical performances by Ariana Grande; and a star-studded a capella Brady Bunch-visual style of Queen’s “We Are the Champions.” Sunday also saw Chris Pratt, Chris Evans & Jimmy Fallon Photobomb Fans On Super Bowl Red Carpet.
Ok, now on with the Fresh Prince parody.
Here it is! (I feel like there should be a drum roll here…)
