First a tiny recap, then a review of this week’s Weird Loners 1.3 “Weirded Out.”
Last week on Weird Loners, Zara (Meera Rohit Kumbhani) felt bad for Eric (Nate Torrence) so she pretended to channel his dead father’s spirit. Eric spent a wonderful day with his “dad.” In the meantime, after Caryn (Becki Newton) accuses Stosh (Zachary Knighton) of being the most selfish person ever, he flies down to Florida and surprises her by pretending to be her fiance so she doesn’t have to break her dear Nana’s heart. Of course he charged thousands on Eric’s credit card, but good intentions, eh?
Weird Loners 1.3 “Weirded Out” review: This little show still has potential. I think it’s harder for a comedy than a drama to get recognition. You have to be REALLY funny to stand out, when there are any number of ways a drama pull you in (murder, explosions, twists, etc.). But this one is still chugging along. The characters are charming and the show has decent little storylines. I’m unsure of its potential season 2 fate, but it’s early. This episode was pretty good.
Stosh has been hiding his entire life from the foursome. He has no prospects, he is stealing food from the girls and then cooking it for them. He owes $1000 to a bookie, so desperate, he finagles a way to get it from Eric. Poor Eric! Stosh promises to buy him a state-of-the-art television so his Eric’s coworkers will come over and maybe like him. To the surprise of no one, everything blew up in Stosh’s face.
Zara searched Stosh on “AmIdatingadouchebag.com” (signed Caryn up for a year as well) and found him out. The rest of the episode has Stosh trying to get back into Eric’s good graces via indirect third party therapy (you’ll see), and paying a toll for a bridge that’s “not even that great of a bridge.” There’s a smashed version of an apology.
Will Eric forgive him?
Funny note – There is a tollbooth (Eric’s job) version of telephone, except with shouting. It’s great. And then they do it again!
