It’s almost time to say goodbye to this exquisitely made period drama. There are only three episodes left til the finale of Mad Men. Before that happens though, let’s recap last week’s episode and review this week’s.

Don (Jon Hamm) had a rough time of it last week. Megan (Jessica Pare) flew in to negotiate divorce terms, and left with a million dollars (which he gave her), and all his furniture (which he didn’t). Well… that part was her angry mother. He found and lost his waitress. SHE rejected him because she must be bananas. Don stared with longing at the family picture Betty (January Jones), Henry (Christopher Stanley), and the kids made. A new photographer, Pima (guest star Mimi Rogers) scores with Stan (Jay R. Ferguson) but not with Peggy (Elizabeth Moss). Harry (Rich Sommer) is a sleazeball, expecting sex from Megan for help with her career, then bad mouths her to Don (who does not care) later. I wanted to kill Harry. The end of that episode with Don standing in the middle of his empty apartment was jarring.

Mad Men 7.10 “The Forecast” review: Aw! Sally (Kiernan Shipka) and Betty are getting along a little better (it won’t last). It’s really cute to see though. Remember when she used to scold and punish for every little thing? Little Glen Bishop came to visit before he ships off to Vietnam. He’s 18 now and there is a thing between him and Betty. She gently rejects him, but is shaken. She really has come a long way. I used to hate her. This Glen thing made Sally angry at the world again. And when one of her friends flirts with Don, she turns on him as well.

Joan (Christina Hendricks) meets someone, but will he last? I’m not sure, but it’s unlikely. He was a bit of a jerk when he found out about her kid, but have you seen what she looks like?

Don’s apartment is for sale, but no one’s buying. His realtor thinks it looks like a sad person lived there. A sad person does. His go to line is always, “Sell it.”

Don tries to write a speech. Um… Don? “Fourscore and seven years ago” is taken already.

Peggy insists that Don do her performance review (because Ted tries to make her do it herself). This is how it ends:

Peggy: “Why don’t you write down your dreams so I can shit on them.” Go Peggy! I kinda feel bad for Don, but go Peggy!

Whoa… Sad ending.

Loved the episode as per usual. I have no inside information, but they are setting Don up to die, aren’t they?
