Last week on Bates Motel, it really felt like “The Last Supper.” Romero (Nestor Carbonell) jumped into the crazy pool, blasted Marcus, and left him as a dead present for Bob (Kevin Rahm). He gets the flash drive from Gunnar and it shows his mother’s name. Now he has even more questions. The answers are definitely in the bottom of a bottle. Dylan (Max Thieriot) finds out that a $20,000 transplant could save Emma (Olivia Cooke) so he jumps at the chance to do a $25,000 gun running job for Chick (Ryan Hurst). Dylan asks Emma out, but Norma (Vera Farmiga) wants to have a family dinner. Caleb (Kenny Johnson) brings flowers over, so she invites him in. Drunk Romero was sleeping it off, but now is invited too. Norman (Freddie Highmore) is not happy about all this male attention on Norma. There’s even singing!
The last scene shows Norman sliding his hand over his sleeping mother’s nightgown clad hip. Gross!
Bates Motel 3.8 “The Pit” review: Everybody is in danger this episode. Bob has some of his guys dig a 23-ft hole in the ground for a “pool.” He has some other guys torture James Finnegan (Joshua Leonard), until he spills what drunk Norma told him about her dead husband. Bye Finnegan! Bob goes running to Alex with the gossip, and Alex is so done with her. And this is after she kisses him so sweetly on the cheek for returning her car. Kevin Rahm is so good at playing a nice-faced evil guy.
“Father-son gun running bonding trip.” Oh Chick! You’re so funny! Dylan sets out on that job for Chick. We knew that was happening. Caleb can’t stop him, but he’s not letting him go alone. Good thing. That was a setup of course. Somebody is dying soon out of this crowd.
Caleb really digs Emma and she him. She’s gotta break up with Norman though. Check out the clip below. She lets him down gently.
Norman is really freaked out about Finnegan’s accusations of him wanting Norma for himself. He confessed his shame to Norma, but she dismissed it and then snuggled with him inappropriately. She’s definitely guilty of that too.
This episode left us with everyone in some kind of danger, and the anticipation of more to come. There’s only two more episodes left in the season. Who will survive?
Bates Motel airs Mondays at 9pm ET on A&E.
