Batman vs Superman Is Ben Affleck in Suicide Squad?

Normally we don’t write about leaked set photos because they usually amount to nothing. A lot of what we see isn’t what is reflected in the finished product. But when it comes to a film like Suicide Squad, it is a bit different. David Ayer‘s film sees some of DC Comics greatest villains assembling for a highly dangerous government black-ops mission. Joker (Jared Leto), Harley Quinn (Margo Robbie), Deadshot (Will Smith), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), Enchantress (Cara Delevingne), Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), Rick Flagg (Joel Kinnaman), and Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) are just some most notable DC characters in the film.

But what’s a movie with the Joker without having the Batman in it? Well, since Suicide Squad takes place in the same universe as Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, there was major speculation that Ben Affleck would have a role in the film. The film is currently shooting, and it looks like fans who have been sticking close to the production set have noticed a sharply dressed Affleck spending some quality time on the set of Suicide Squad. So is he in it or is he just playing with the geek community? There are minor spoilers ahead, so for more on that and the photos of Affleck on set, see below.

Here’s an embed from Twitter of the photos, which were posted by Steele131:

Rumors of Batman being in the film started to pop up as early as January of this year. It started with the idea that Batman would appear on surveillance cameras, and that the government is aware of his activities and know that he is searching for “supers.” But the last rumor said that that film would have a final scene involving Batman and the Joker, which would act as a bridge to his solo feature.

As we can clearly see in the photos above, Affleck is in a suit and tie, indicating that he may be Bruce Wayne in that particular scene. There are a lot of Batman villains in Suicide Squad, which may explain why the actor is on set.

In an additional report from Latino Review, there is word that Affleck is indeed in Toronto for Suicide Squad, but it is only for a cameo. Jared Leto, however, will be shooting his Joker cameo for BvS. According to the site, he will be involved in a flashback scene that sees the Joker killing Jason Todd aka Robin. They also say that during BvS we could see Jason Todd’s Robin costume in a glass case to serve as a reminder to Bruce. This case would also trigger a memory which would center on the Joker killing Jason Todd.

Suicide Squad is said to take place before the events of BvS, and since the rumored subplot focuses on the government knowing that the Dark Knight is searching for other superpowered beings, it only makes sense that the next film in the DC Cinematic Universe chronology would be BvS.

Suicide Squad opens August 5, 2016.
