Miami Vice Remix #4 can easily be described in just one word: crazy. There are a couple of words that belong in front of that, but, this is a family friendly website so I won’t include them. If you thought the first three issues have been a ride, this one will blow you away!
So far, Joe Casey has done a fantastic job with this title. He takes everything that you know about Miami Vice and turns it on its ear, yet keeps it recognizable and familiar. What he doesn’t keep familiar is the action, mystery, and police procedures from the 1980s, because, well…it’s 2015 in this series. This issue is particularly great because this is where all the weird things that have happened start to come together in resolution. But not in a way anyone saw coming, and in this case, that’s a VERY good thing.
Artist Jim Mahfood hits it out of the park again. Everything is unmistakably Mahfood and he really makes this story fit his artwork. I honestly don’t know if I’d be enjoying the book if the art was done in a more straight-laced style. But for this issue, I want to take a second to recognize that extremely excellent job that the colorists, Justin Stewart & Steven Chunn, did on this issue. Simply put, the colors are amazing and just like with the art, they really are the unsung heroes of this issue.
This issue is incredible, this SERIES is incredible, and you’re missing out if you’re not reading it. Having said that, I have to warn any potential readers that this book is NOT AT ALL for ANYONE under the age of 17 or anyone easily offended by harsh language. But, if that doesn’t bother you, be sure to grab this!!
