Last week on Dominion, there’s a few Michael/Alex flashbacks (Tom Wisdom/Christopher Egan), and it highlights the bond they have, even though it doesn’t seem as if Alex is on Michael’s side. After all, he helps Julian (Simon Merrells) capture Michael and Gabriel (Carl Beukes) in angel nets, after they go on a bloody rampage in New Delphi. Arika (Shivani Ghai) is revealed to be playing both sides. Evil and beautiful is a deadly combo. Claire (Roxanne McKee) puts a bounty on Zoe’s (Christina Chong) head, which causes some insurgence. Jasper is shot, but still calls shotgun on David Whele’s (Anthony Head) Vega explosions.

Dominion 2.6 “Reap The Whirlwind” review: With the city in two, David is prepared to instruct Zoe:

“Welcome to your revolution.”

Zoe gives the “Rocky” speech to her V1 half of Vega, but almost loses it when her bestie Jasper dies.

While Claire spends a lot of time fretting by the window and not actually doing anything, she does forbid Gates from going to cut the transmission. To no one’s surprise, he doesn’t listen. And Arika spills the beans to Whele, who sends people to stop him. She is so furious with him, they have sex. You show him, Claire! Perfect punishment!

In New Delphi, Julian plans to torture Gabriel and Michael. Alex buys some time by agreeing to turn over the Amphora, but searches for Michael instead. He finds him and helps him heal, and makes a very flawed plan, which cannot possibly work out for everyone. How do you think it turned out?

I can’t get a handle on David Whele. I mean, I know he’s out for himself, ultimately, but he really is helping Zoe, and sincerely proud when she ad-libs her own inspirational speech. Am I biased because he’s always Giles forever? Or is Anthony Head, really so good at acting that he is acting (being treacherous-seeming truly sincere-hiding a snake-in-the-grass?). It hurts my head to think about. Zoe finds out about the cahoots with Arika, so she puts a bullet in his leg.

And Gabriel (becoming one of my faves) seems genuinely upset that Noma (Kim Engelbrecht) pulls out her own wings (in a turn-your-head-away-from-the-tv-even-though-you-know-wings-are-fake moment), to save Alex and make their escape. He also doesn’t want the words of Father burned. His love for Michael is completely endearing.

I’m upset with Alex for not figuring something heroic out to save Michael, the Amphora, General Riesen, and yes, even Gabriel.

Dominion airs Thursday nights at 10pm ET on Syfy.
