Last week on The Last Man On Earth, Tandy (Will Forte) played the sympathy card up and down and over the top, over his not-so-black eye, courtesy of Phil (Boris Kodjoe). Phil refuses to go in the stocks so everyone is mad at him. He’s “almost worse than Tandy.” Tandy starts to feel bad for Phil (even though he’s still a jerk to him), after seeing him a lonely mess around the presents he made for the baby. He got trashed and almost drowned, lying on the beach. Tandy saved him by slowly dragging him to safety and into the stocks. Carol (Kristen Schaal) is sad about not having a baby. Todd (Mel Rodriguez) is mad at Melissa (January Jones) for not telling him she once considered having a baby… with Tandy.
Spoilers below.
The Last Man On Earth 2.8 “No Bull” recap/review: Tandy presented Phil locked in the stocks, announcing that Phil did it to himself, but the others weren’t that impressed. The spotlight was stolen, also.
Jason Sudeikis!! He’s fixing his ship and talking to his worms. He tries in vain to find someone on Earth. He ends up giving up on that, and just floats around getting high on nitrous oxide. I’m glad he didn’t off himself, which is where I thought his despair was taking him.
The cow had a baby! Carol uses this opportunity (I think innocently but who knows?) to emphasize the “ripping” during childbirth. Anyhoo, there must be a bull around town. The mission is to find it.
Phil tricks Tandy into convincing the group to let him out, and he takes off. “I have no family.” The group does not even care that he left, although Erica (Cleopatra Coleman) is falsely bright.
Todd catches Gail (Mary Steenburgen) making out with her CPR dummy. So right after he and Melissa break up, they hook up.
Tandy tries giving a “we are family” speech to the group, in order to get them to want to find Phil, and waxes poetic (not poetically) about glass houses and such. And Tandy being Tandy, succeeded in bringing up all their sins to prove a point, and soon everyone is at each other’s throats – stopped only by Phil’s request to be put back in the stocks.
All is forgiven over barbecued bull. The gang kind of has their own Thanksgiving.
This was a short and sweet episode. There was not too much Tandy being annoying, and the group got a little more cohesive. The Gail/Todd thing is going to blow everything up, but for now, let’s enjoy the brief peace. I am liking this season way more than the 1st one.
The Last Man On Earth airs Sunday nights at 9:30pm ET on FOX.
