Have you been considering checking out The Elder Scrolls Online, the MMO that’s based in the same world as (and plays an awful lot like) Fallout 4 developer Bethesda Game Studios’ Elder Scrolls games, but haven’t seen enough to make you commit the necessary coin to give it a chance yet?
This weekend, The Elder Scrolls Online will be available for any and all—including those of you who have played the game and weren’t fond of it at the time but are willing to give it a second chance—who play on PC/Mac or Xbox One to download and play it for free. For you PS4 players, you’re not forgotten: making a free weekend for you happen is currently being worked on.
You can read the full details below.

Personally I feel like one has to put a good amount of time into The Elder Scrolls Online to truly appreciate it, but hopefully if you lock yourself in your room for the weekend and really take advantage of this free weekend you’ll see it’s definitely worth buying if you’re into games like this.
Oh, and in case you’re worried about not having anyone to actually play with, never fear: I’ve played most of my many, many, many hours with the game all by myself. There are areas best approached with companions, but you can most definitely play a surprising amount on your own. If an enemy you’re trying to defeat is a little too tough, just do some inventory shuffling or leveling up while you wait for someone else to come along and ease the difficulty. You don’t even have to worry about other players running up and murdering you for no reason unless you go to the PvP area of the world map.
Have fun storming the castle!
