We’ve already seen a couple of trailers, and based on this one, we can expect to see the same level of Shane Black excellence in this film as we did in Lethal Weapon, Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang, and Iron Man 3. It’s a buddy cop comedy with snappy dialogue, plenty of humor, a crime to solve, and with some nice action to boot. Since detailing what you will see in the trailer really wouldn’t do it any justice, check it out for yourself.
With the number of dramas that Gosling has been in like A Place Beyond The Pines and Drive, we often forget that he can also be really funny. Films like Crazy, Stupid, Love and most recently The Big Short, show us that Gosling isn’t short on comedic talent. Here we get to see him play Private Detective Holland March, a charismatic detective who is clearly in over his head, when he accepts to partner up with enforcer Jackson Healy, a calm and cool, but also grizzled and cranky enforcer. Let’s not forget the wise-cracking kids who can match wits with their elders, especially one who can keep up with someone like Gosling.
Early reactions to the film have been mostly positive, and have suggested that this is something worth watching.
The film also stars Angourie Rice, Matt Bomer, Margaret Qualley, Keith David, and Kim Basinger.
The Nice Guys arrives in theaters May 20th.
