Bruce Campbell has been a “Jack of all Trades” throughout his near 40-year career. He’s been a suave leading man, the comedy relief sidekick, and of course the grooviest man to ever bare a chainsaw hand. One thing he’s not however, is a winner of major awards. Well, Bruce Campbell wants to change that. Campbell is launching a campaign to be nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as Ash Williams in the Starz series Ash vs. Evil Dead, based on the cult horror series that made Campbell famous.
Check out the teaser below.
The campaign will be twofold, first with posters and billboards adorning the Los Angeles skyline. Four separate video ads have begun streaming on social media. Starz Executive VP Theano Apostolou said, “You can’t really go wrong by getting out of the way and letting Bruce Campbell do what he does best.” In an effort to keep topical, Campbell has declared he wants to make the annual television awards “groovy again.”
Speaking of Trump-isms, Campbell took to twitter to correct a conservative website when a photo of a bloody and injured woman was posted claiming she was a Trump supporter attacked by protesters. Problem; it was actually actress Samara Weaving in a photo from a makeup test she did for the ultra gory Ash vs. Evil Dead series.
Ash vs. Evil Dead returns to Starz this Fall. The Emmy’s are September 18th so expect a crazy summer campaign from Campbell and company.
Ash Vs Evil Dead’s Bruce Campbell – Make the Emmy’s Groovy Again
Bruce Campbell wants you to know that he deserves to be put up against Jeffrey Tambor and Anthony Anderson (presumably) for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy, and he doesn’t have to shout over his chainsaw for you to hear it. Because he hasn’t had to turn his chainsaw on. Yet. Are you hearing what’s being said without being said here, Emmy voters, or does he need to break out the eyebrow again?
