Even with some of the negative publicity regarding Rogue One: A Star Wars Story reshoots, there is still a heavy interest in seeing how Star Wars‘ first theatrical spinoff film will play out for audiences. So far, trailers have proven to be very entertaining and have shown us that that they don’t have to rely on having Jedi or Sith, but instead can focus on the really gritty aspects of the rarely seen ground war. Previously released images have also teased what a ground war Star Wars would look like, and a new set of images gives us a better look at some of the characters and their new gear.
Check it out in the image gallery here below.
These images come to us from Empire.
Some of these images look like Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) and Captain Cassian Ando (Diego Luna) are recruiting others to aid them on their mission to steal the Death Star plans. A little clue that gives this away is where Jyn looks like she is offering help to a panhandling (or what appears to be panhandling) Chirrut Imwe (Donnie Yen). Bodhi Rook (Riz Amhed) seems to be sporting some new gear as well. Director Krennic’s (Ben Mendelsohn) Deathtroopers appear to be larger than we originally thought, perhaps that is to intimidate the Rebels. And we get yet another look at Jyn’s first encounter with K-2SO (Alan Tudyk) – just like we saw in the trailer. But it is Jyn Erso in a military poncho with goggles and armed with a blaster rifle that tells us this will indeed be a ground war film that is a nod to the rebels that fight this war.
Other than that, these are pretty much your standard photos. It’s no secret that Rogue One centers on the team that steals the plan to the Death Star, and we will likely see at least one more trailer that reveals more of the gritty action that you would see in a war film. Of course, lots more will be revealed as we get closer to the film’s release date. Until then, you might want to still hold your breath.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story opens in theaters on December 16, 2016.
