Matt Kindt does it again with this masterpiece of a story. Dept. H Volume 1: Pressure is first and foremost a crime story. Just because it happens over a half dozen miles beneath the ocean’s surface is purely circumstantial, right? And if it was your father that was killed, would the location be too much for you? Of course not.
So when Mia is approached to investigate the death of her father in an underwater research facility, she did her duty as both an investigator and as a daughter, she went where she was needed. But with only a handful of suspects, one of whom is her brother, she has to tread carefully.
Not everyone is as interested in finding answers, especially when it only creates more questions. But even as mishaps and catastrophes seem to try to derail her, she strengthens her resolve and vows to find the killer.
These first six issues are merely a drop in the proverbial bucket as readers experience Mia’s trial and tribulations in this journey to uncover the truth. Heavy on suspense and light on answers, this graphic novel is sure to pique your interests and keep you wondering what’s next as the search for clues is ongoing.
