Last week on Supernatural, Dean (Jensen Ackles) was hit with a whammy of a witch spell that made him slowly lose his memories. Although nice to see Dean a bit happy for once, we and Sam (Jared Padalecki) were quite worried as soon he would forget how to breathe. Rowena (Ruth Connell) came to the rescue, as the culprits were a family of witches that needed to be put down to save Dean, and just because.
Spoilers below.
Supernatural 12.12 “Stuck in the Middle (With You)” review: The boys, Castiel (Misha Collins), Mary (Samantha Smith), and another hunter are eating in a diner. They all start chatting until Mary moms them into silence. The job doesn’t sound too complicated, but ends up with Castiel really wounded and the other hunter dead.
Time jumps a bit this episode. Keep an eye out for the awesome slow motion walk.
The perp, Ramiel (Jerry Trimble), comes home and is unaffected by the bullets. Ramiel has yellow eyes, and we learn that Azazel did not corner the yellow eye market. Prince and Princesses of Hell all have yellow eyes. He is a prince of Hell and he has an angel weapon, a lance that Crowley (Mark Sheppard) gave him to try to get him to rule Hell. He said no thanks and suggested Crowley do it. That is all well and dandy, but Ramiel ended up using the lance on Cass during the messed up operation, and now Cass is dying.
Mother Mary knew all along that something was up. She’s working with the Men of Letters. They are all creeps! No!
Cass: “I think I’m dying.” Dean is not having it, although the situation is very dire.
Crowley shows up like a king of hell in shining armor. Or not. He tries to stop the prince, but doesn’t. He gets flung against a wall, like most people do in a supernatural fight.
Cass gives them a goodbye speech. “You’re my family. I love you.” Black sludge begins to flow out of his mouth. This was jarring. I’ve actually watched the end of someone’s life who was dying of cancer and this did happen (not as thick), so it did seem hopeless. Crowley comes in with the save and then disappears with the crazy captive. It is Lucifer. We already knew when the white smoke came out of the president and into a vent that Lucifer was not really gone. I thought perhaps the others noticed, but no?
We get Mark Pellegrino back as Lucifer so that’s always a win. He’s my favorite.
I really dug the episode. Very, very upset that Mary is not being as loyal to her sons as the brothers (and Castiel… and Crowley… and Rowena) are to each other, but I guess one can chalk it up to a “Mother knows best” attitude combined with a possible theory that she just wants supernatural villains gone, as they have robbed her of so much.
Richard Speight Jr (The Trixter/Gabriel) directed this episode, and the time changes did reflect a unique feel, and the music was cool. Good job!
Supernatural airs Thursday nights at 8:00pm ET on The CW.

they didn’t shoot Ramiel with The Colt, it was a regular gun with devils trap bullets and it didn’t work. then it is reveal the item in the box Crowley gave to Ramiel and Mary stole is the Colt which we haven’t known where it was since like season 5.
