Atomic Blonde starring Charlize Theron

Though the films may not take place in the same world, Atomic Blonde, starring Charlize Theron, definitely has the makings of a feminine John Wick. Considering that the film is helmed by John Wick co-director David Leitch, that’s no surprise. A new trailer for the film has been released, showing just how adept Theron’s spy character is at hand-to-hand combat, weapons, and one has to assume the honeypot. Check it out here below.

Atomic Blonde is based on the graphic novel The Coldest City by Antony Johnston and illustrator Sam Hart. It centers on Agent Lorraine Broughton (Theron), who is a master of the spy craft, brutal as any mercenary, and just as sensual as any suave spy. Now there really isn’t much to be revealed, but we do get a sense that she is given an impossible-to-accomplish mission. But judging by her reaction, it just may be a walk in the park for her.

The trailer alone reveals that there are going to be a lot of bone-crunching, blood splattering, and sexy scenes. It should be fun to see what Theron can do with this.

Atomic Blonde also stars James McAvoy, John Goodman, Til Schweiger, Eddie Marsan, Sofia Boutella, and Toby Jones.

Here’s the official plot synopsis:

The crown jewel of Her Majesty’s Secret Intelligence Service, Agent Lorraine Broughton (Theron) is equal parts spycraft, sensuality, and savagery, willing to deploy any of her skills to stay alive on her impossible mission. Sent alone into Berlin to deliver a priceless dossier out of the destabilized city, she partners with embedded station chief David Percival (James McAvoy) to navigate her way through the deadliest game of spies.

A blistering blend of sleek action, gritty sexuality and dazzling style, Atomic Blonde is directed by David Leitch (John Wick, upcoming Deadpool 2). Also starring John Goodman, Til Schweiger, Eddie Marsan, Sofia Boutella and Toby Jones, the film is based on the Oni Press graphic novel “The Coldest City,” by Antony Johnston & illustrator Sam Hart. Kurt Johnstad (300) wrote the screenplay.

Atomic Blonde opens in theaters on July 28, 2017.
