The Hellboy reboot has found its Blood Queen. It’s being reported that Milla Jovovich is in final talks to take on the role. The movie was originally said to be titled Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen, but it appears now that they may not be using that subtitle anymore.
Jovovich joins Stranger Things star David Harbour and Deadwood and American Gods star Ian McShane on the cast.
Harbour will be playing the title role in the reboot, which was played by Ron Perlman in the two previous Hellboy movies directed by Guillermo del Toro. McShane will play Hellboy’s adoptive father Professor Broom, played originally by John Hurt.
The Hellboy reboot is being directed by Neil Marshall (The Descent, Game of Thrones), who is going all out with an R-rated cinematic take on creator Mike Mignola‘s comic.
The screenplay was first penned by Mignola, Andrew Cosby, and Christopher Golden. Now a new writer, Aron Coleite, has been brought in to work on the latest draft. Coleite wrote multiple episodes of Heroes and is a staff writer on the latest Star Trek TV series, Star Trek: Discovery. He also did some comic book work, writing for Ultimate X-Men for a stretch.
Details on the new Hellboy story and the villainous Blood Queen character have not yet been shared.
Jovovich led the six-movie Resident Evil franchise, which was completed with Resident Evil: The Final Chapter recently. However, as we found out a few months back, that franchise is also being rebooted.
