‘Red Sparrow’ Trailer: Jennifer Lawrence Trains To Become A Spy

Red Sparrow

Jennifer Lawrence is many things, but one thing we have yet to see her be is a full-fledged spy. And it just so happens that she is starring in Red Sparrow, where she plays as a Russian spy forced into the world of espionage in order to protect the mother she loves so dearly.

Now Fox has released the latest trailer for the film, which reveals a little more of the plot and the circumstances that have led Lawrence’s character to becoming neck-deep in the spy game. Check out the latest trailer below.

The film may not be as splashy as the neon-coated Atomic Blonde, which also had themes of infiltration and mistrust, but there is a badass female lead. Here we see that Lawrence’s character is trained too well. Maybe it’s the way the trailer is cut, but it looks like she is playing everybody and the targets are nothing more than just pawns. The brutality of her training to become these sparrows will also play a significant role in the film. And even though we’ve seen these sessions play out before in other films, let’s just hope there is something about them in Red Sparrow that makes it stand out from the predecessors.

Here is the official synopsis:

Dominika Egorova is many things. A devoted daughter determined to protect her mother at all costs. A prima ballerina whose ferocity has pushed her body and mind to the absolute limit. A master of seductive and manipulative combat. When she suffers a career-ending injury, Dominika and her mother are facing a bleak and uncertain future. That is why she finds herself manipulated into becoming the newest recruit for Sparrow School, a secret intelligence service that trains exceptional young people like her to use their bodies and minds as weapons. After enduring the perverse and sadistic training process, she emerges as the most dangerous Sparrow the program has ever produced. Dominika must now reconcile the person she was with the power she now commands, with her own life and everyone she cares about at risk, including an American CIA agent who tries to convince her he is the only person she can trust.

Directed by Francis Lawrence, based on the novel of the same name written by Jason Matthews, Red Sparrow also stars Joel Edgerton, Matthias Schoenaerts, Charlotte Rampling, Mary-Louise Parker, and Jeremy Irons

It is scheduled to be released on March 2, 2018. Click right here for a previous trailer if you missed it.
