I’ve often thought of myself as a plucky heroine, ready to stand by my man and hold my own, while we go on a dashing adventure. As a fan of both romance novels (what? I have layers…) and choose-your-own-adventure books, I feel that Quirk Books’ newest tome blends the best of both to give you multiple romantic entanglements.
So I was off to my romantic adventure in My Lady’s Choosing: An Interactive Romance Novel by Kitty Curran and Larissa Zageris.
I, of course, immediately tried to get with the Scottish hero, Captain Angus MacTaggert, given my obsession with Outlander. Angus is a true hero, caring for orphans in a swoon-worthy way. There is a surprise lover, the supernatural, everything you ever wanted in a romance novel is in there… along with tons of romance parody, because who can’t poke fun at romance novel tropes?
This 352-page book is tons of fun and should not be taken seriously at all. The marriage between this and Quirk is perfect. I laughed a lot, while feeling at home in the romance world. I loved going back and forth and making my own choices instead of having the choices made for me.
I usually breeze through novels, especially the romance ones, but I am still finding new adventures with this one. I don’t want to influence your path, except with this: buy the book, take some romance for a spin, and have some laughs along the way.
Official Synopsis:
The romance novel that lets you pick your path, follow your heart, and find happily ever after.
You are the plucky but penniless heroine in the center of eighteenth-century society, courtship season has begun, and your future is at hand. Will you flip forward fetchingly to find love with the bantering baronet Sir Benedict Granville? Or turn the page to true love with the hardworking, horse-loving highlander Captain Angus McTaggart? Or perhaps race through the chapters chasing a good (and arousing) man gone mad, bad, and scandalous to know, Lord Garraway Craven? Or read on recklessly and take to the Continent as the “traveling companion” of the spirited and adventuresome Lady Evangeline? Or yet some other intriguing fate? Make choices, turn pages, and discover all the daring delights of the multiple (and intertwining!) storylines. And in every path you pick, beguiling illustrations bring all the lust and love to life.
