Although season 4 of Outlander doesn’t come out until November, “Droughtlander” is ending for a number of lucky fans. It’s been announced that the cast of the popular Starz series will make their New York Comic-Con debut this October.
The official Outlander Twitter account tweeted that stars Caitriona Balfe (Claire Randall), Sam Heughan (Jamie Fraser), Sophie Skelton (Brianna Randall), and Richard Rankin (Roger Wakefield) will all be in attendance with “more details to come.”
Sadly for West Coast fans, it appears that Outlander will be skipping San Diego Comic-Con. Executive producer Maril Davis confirmed both the NYCC and SDCC news with a tweet:
Based on Diana Gabaldon‘s time travel/historical fiction/romance book series, season four of Starz’ Outlander is set to follow book four, Drums of Autumn. Fans can expect to see a new setting in the 18th century “colonies” just before the American Revolution and will be introduced to Jamie’s aunt Jocasta Cameron (Maria Doyle Kennedy), sibling to Colum (Gary Lewis), Dougal (Graham McTavish), and Ellen MacKenzie (Jamie’s mother in the books). This season will also feature more of Lord John Grey (David Berry).
If the season follows the book, it is sure to be an intense whirlwind not just for Claire and Jamie, but also for Brianna and Roger. Drums of Autumn also delves into the some of the dark and complex aspects of early American history involving Europeans and slavery as well as the colonists’ relations with Native Americans.
These topics are sure to be discussed at NYCC in October. Let’s hope the cast gives us some tidbits to hang onto for that last month of “Droughtlander” before the November premiere.
