It’s the end of the year, which means it is time to recognize the best that films had to offer in 2018. We can expect to see the usual guilds and groups release their nominations, and that is no different for the Annie Awards, which recognize excellence in animation. No matter the medium or technique.

As expected, films like Incredibles 2 and Ralph Breaks The Internet both earned 11 nominations, while Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse took seven nominations. Which is pretty disappointing considering how the film is pretty much a game-changer in terms of animation and animated storytelling. Other major contenders include Early Man and Isle of Dogs. On the TV side of things, Bob’s Burgers and BoJack Horseman earned nominations as well. Big Mouth also earned a nomination for Netflix. Although, it’s sad to see nothing went to Voltron.
