We’ve been pretty eager to see CBS’s relaunch of The Twilight Zone on their streaming service ever since the network announced their plans for one. The addition of Jordan Peele as executive producer only added an extra layer of intrigue. And it seems very appropriate that they would drop the first look during one of the world’s biggest games, tonight’s Super Bowl. Of course, it also helps that they are the network to air it. Check it out here below.
In terms of reveals, there really isn’t much to look at. However, the tone and execution has Twilight Zone vibes that reverberate throughout the entire ad. And in classic Twilight Zone form, we get to hear a narration that makes us question everything we know about our reality. “Witness an empty space filled with thousands of screaming people,” Peele narrates. “A man both nowhere and everywhere at the same time. Answers are new questions. The unthinkable is expected. When truth is not the truth, what dimension are you even in?”
This is all but a small snippet of what is to come. Of course, we will probably learn a lot more about the show in the weeks leading up to its premiere. But from what we know so far,Marco Rameriez (The Defenders) will be acting as showrunner. And much like the original, the new series will consist of a number of episodes or vignettes that tell different stories. One particular episode will be entitled “Nightmare at 30,000 Feet,” a remake of the original series episode “Nightmare at 20,000 Feet” starring William Shatner. The remake will star Sanaa Lathan and Adam Scott.
Other confirmed actors include John Cho, Allison Tolman, Jacob Tremblay, and Erica Tremblay starring in an episode entitled “Wunderkind,” and Steven Yeun and Greg Kinnear appearing in an episode called “The Traveler.”
Rhea Seehorn, Kumail Nanjiani, Steven Yeun, Luke Kirby, Greg Kinnear, Sanaa Lathan, Ike Barinholtz, and Taissa Farmiga round out the rest of the cast who will appear in other episodes.
The Twilight Zone premieres on CBS All Access on April 1, 2019.
