While I’m not a big survival horror fan, and have only played a couple of Resident Evil games briefly, there was no denying that the recently released Resident Evil 2 remake looked pretty awesome. Watching a couple of videos of it on YouTube I was introduced to an intimidating character called Mr. X, someone fans of the series are very familiar with.
Mr. X, also known as T-00, is part of the Tyrant T-103 series of superhuman “bio-organic weapons” produced using clones of the T-102 series which were altered. In the Resident Evil 2 remake, he’s basically a giant, murderous Mr. Freeze dressed like Humphrey Bogart at the end of Casablanca who relentlessly pursues the player. Modders immediately began having fun with the character, replacing him with various things. One such modder figured out a way to make him even more terrifying, by replacing him with none other than Friday the 13th‘s own Jason Voorhees.
Continue below to see a video of Voorhees in the Resident Evil 2 remake, along with some bonus videos.
This version of Jason was created by Friday the 13th alum Tom Savini for Friday the 13th: The Game. Savini designed it based on the ninth movie in the franchise, Jason Goes to Hell. We don’t actually see Jason in Hell in the movie, so the design is Savini’s vision of what he might have looked like.
The mod comes from George over at the Resident Evil Modding Community, and the video comes from YouTube user Rayofpandas.
Under the video of the Jason Voorhees mod you can also find a video of the original Mr. X from the remake for anyone who’s unfamiliar with the game, as well as some other mods that have been created including Mr. X with his very own DMX “X Gon’ Give It To Ya” soundtrack, fellow Resident Evil baddie Nemesis in place of Mr. X, and the much less (or perhaps much more) terrifying Thomas the Tank Engine replacement.
If interested in playing the game, you can pick up a copy over at Amazon.
