At the beginning of 2019 it was announced that a sequel to 2001’s Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back, which Kevin Smithhad written a couple of years before that, had been given the greenlight and would begin filming in February. The sequel, which is titled Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, will once again star Jason Mewes and Smith as the title characters and will poke fun at Hollywood’s obsession with sequels, remakes, and reboots, while being all three itself.
A couple of days back Smith announced that the first trailer for the movie would be unveiled during his annual Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con this Saturday night. But things change quickly, and instead the trailer has been shared today. You can check it out below.
As you’ll see in the trailer there’s going to be an insane amount of cameos in this one, as anyone who’s a fan of Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back would expect. Many of them are familiar faces in Smith’s View Askewniverse, and many of them are new while still being very much familiar.
There are so many cameos, in fact, that I won’t even bother listing them all off. Mainly for those of you who like to go into a movie like this not knowing who’s going to show up (in which case you should probably skip the trailer), and also because, well…I’m a bit lazy. I’m sure you’ll understand once you’ve seen it.
Jay and Silent Bob Reboot will be released in theaters on October 15th. Smith and Mewes are also going on a tour called The Jay and Silent Bob Reboot Roadshow, which gives fans the opportunity to watch the sequel with Jay and Silent Bob live and in person.
Oh, and fair warning: this is a Jay and Silent Bob movie, and the trailer is of the red band variety. So you probably want to avoid for now if you’re at work or have tiny humans running around.
