Back in 2017 when Kevin Smith shared that he had written a sequel to Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, he also mentioned that the long discussed Clerks IIIwas dead due to one of the four leads opting out. It was eventually revealed that the lead who opted out was Jeff Anderson, who played Randal Graves in the first two movies.
But now, with Jay and Silent Bob Reboot set to release soon, Smith has announced that Clerks III is back from the dead with the cast, including Anderson, set to return. Smith made the announcement on social media, which you can see below.
Smith shared a picture of himself, Jason Mewes, and Anderson in the post, in which he talked about hoping to mend his relationship with Anderson like he had with Ben Affleck for Reboot.
But interestingly enough, the movie will not be the Clerks III that had been in the works all of those years. Instead, Smith decided to start from scratch with a new story to close out the trilogy.
Along with Anderson returning as Randal, Brian O’Halloran will be back to play Dante Hicks and Smith and Mewes will of course be back in their Jay and Silent Bob roles.
