Paramount Home Entertainment has announced the release of a Limited Collector’s Edition Blu-ray Steelbook for Galaxy Quest for the film’s 20th anniversary.
The special “Never Give Up, Never Surrender” 20th anniversary edition for the 1999 scifi action-comedy will be released on September 21, 2019 for purchase exclusively at Best Buy, and contains a host of bonus features, which are listed here below.
Galaxy Quest stars Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman, Tony Shalhoub, Sam Rockwell, Enrico Colantoni, Daryl Mitchell, and Justin Long, and is a parody of/homage to scifi franchises like Star Trek and its rabid fandom. While it wasn’t a blockbuster hit, it did get favorable reviews and went on to achieve cult status. It was even voted the 7th best Star Trek movie by fans at the 2013 Star Trek convention in Las Vegas.
The stars of a 1970s sci-fi show – now scraping a living through re-runs and sci-fi conventions – are beamed aboard an alien spacecraft. Believing the cast’s heroic on-screen dramas are historical documents of real-life adventures, the band of aliens turn to the ailing celebrities for help in their quest to overcome the oppressive regime in their solar system.
Pre-order for Steelbook edition is up now at Best Buy.
