A new trailer has been released for Trolls World Tour, which stars Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake in the sequel to DreamWorks Animation’s 2016 animated hit film Trolls.
In it, we see that the world of the trolls is much bigger than we imagined, one in which there are multiple genres of music that exist as tribes that live in six different lands. However, when the hard rock tribe threatens the music balance by taking away the strings that make up these tribes and their lands, it will be up to Poppy and Branch to unify the trolls to prevent that from happening. Check out the trailer below.
The hard rock tribe will be led by Queen Barb (Rachel Bloom) and aided by her father King Thrash (Ozzy Osbourne), who envisions a world in which hard rock reigns supreme.
Trolls World Tour will also feature the musical and voice talents of Flula Borg, Kelly Clarkson, Ester Dean, Kunal Nayyar, Jamie Dornan, Gustavo Dudamel, James Corden, Caroline Hjelt, Anthony Ramos, Sam Rockwell, Betsy Sodaro, Ron Funches, Karan Soni, Kenan Thompson, Aino Jawo, Charlyne Yi, George Clinton, and Mary J. Blige.
I am not completely on board with having rock as the film’s antagonist, but that being said, I can see how the sequel could end with all of the musical tribes being able to co-exist peacefully. We will just have to wait and see if it ends up that way.
Here is the official plot synopsis for Trolls World Tour:
Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake return in Trolls World Tour, an all-star sequel to DreamWorks Animation’s 2016 musical hit. In an adventure that will take them well beyond what they’ve known before, Poppy (Kendrick) and Branch (Timberlake) discover that they are but one of six different Trolls tribes scattered over six different lands and devoted to six different kinds of music: Funk, Country, Techno, Classical, Pop and Rock. Their world is about to get a lot bigger and a whole lot louder.
A member of hard-rock royalty, Queen Barb (Rachel Bloom), aided by her father King Thrash (Ozzy Osbourne), wants to destroy all other kinds of music to let rock reign supreme. With the fate of the world at stake, Poppy and Branch, along with their friends “” Biggie (James Corden), Chenille (Caroline Hjelt), Satin (Aino Jawo), Cooper (Ron Funches) and Guy Diamond (Kunal Nayyar) “” set out to visit all the other lands to unify the Trolls in harmony against Barb, who’s looking to upstage them all.
Directed by Walt Dohrn, Trolls World Tour will be released in theaters by Universal Pictures on April 17, 2020. Click right here for a previously released trailer if you missed it.
