| Black Metal Friday: Bölzer “Entranced By The Wolfshook”
Bolzer is a two-man blackened death metal band from Switzerland whose name loosely translates to “force of destruction.” Formed in 2008 by musicians who have adopted the monikers of HzR and KzR, the band has become one of the fastest rising stars in the underground metal world without even releasing a full-length album. To date they have produced a demo and 2 EPs, all of which have garnered them near universal praise from fans and critics. Today’s Black Metal Friday track is taken from the band’s 2013 EP, Aura. This is “Entranced By The Wolfshook.” Play it loud and throw those horns up!

| Black Metal Friday: Belphegor “Totenkult – Exegesis Of Deterioration” |

This week’s edition of Black Metal Friday features blackened death metal gods Belphegor. Hailing from Salzburg, Austria, and taking the name of one of the seven princes of Hell, these guys have been spreading their blistering blasphemy since 1991. I’m very ecstatic to say that I will be catching the band live this weekend, along with over 60 other metal bands, at Slipknot’s Knotfest festival. And if that wasn’t enough to make me absolutely giddy, the band has also just released a live rehearsal video of themselves performing a brand new track entitled, “Totenkult – Exegesis Of Deterioration.” I assume this killer new song will be part of an upcoming full-length release. Keep your eyes fixed right here at GoD for any news regarding that and for full coverage of the Knotfest weekend. Belpegor’s most recent studio album, Conjuring The Dead, was released in 2014 via Nuclear Blast Records, and reached number 13 on the Billboard U.S. Heatseekers chart.

| Black Metal Friday: Denner/Shermann “Satan’s Tomb”
Michael Denner and Hank Shermann are the legendary guitar duo behind the pioneering Danish metal outfit Mercyful Fate (the band that also gave us King Diamond). These axe masters are back with a new eponymous band. Denner/Shermann has just released its debut EP via powerhouse label Metal Blade Records on October 2, 2015. Satan’s Tomb contains 4 tracks that would have been right at home on any of Mercyful Fate’s classic albums. Sean Peck‘s vocals even bear a striking resemblance to King Diamond. The band is rounded out by bassist Marc Grabowski and drummer Snowy Shaw, the latter of whom is also a King Diamond alum.

| Black Metal Friday: Acherontas “Ma-IoN (Formulas of Reptilian Unification)”
Acherontas is a black metal band with members from all across Europe. Their frontman and namesake is the legendary guitarist/vocalist Acherontas V. Priest formerly of the band Stutthof. These guys consider their shows to be black mass rituals as opposed to mere entertainment. They regularly perform with their faces masked. Since the band’s inception in 2007, they have released five full length albums and countless splits, EPs, and compilations. Today’s Black Metal Friday pick is the title track of their most recent album, Ma”‹-“‹IoN (Formulas of Reptilian Unification), which was released this past February on the World Terror Committee label. So, crank it up and enjoy the ritual.

| Black Metal Friday Album Review: Deafheaven ‘New Bermuda’
We’re doing something a bit different for this week’s edition of BMF. Whereas we normally feature a single track, this time out I have chosen to share with you my thoughts on a landmark new black metal record. This Black Metal Friday marks the release of what may be the most highly anticipated black metal album of 2015. The controversial San Francisco band Deafheaven‘s third studio album New Bermuda drops today, October 2, 2015.
