For the fifth and final consecutive week of this celebration of Disneyland Resort’s sixtieth anniversary, which has ranged from reflecting on favorite commercials to envisioning the future of the resort, I add even more of a personal touch to this edition.

Here are six of my favorite Disneyland Resort-related possessions that I have obtained over the years (more specifically, over the past two decades).

Disneyland has hit the 60th anniversary mark. Now what? The California theme park, which has belonged to the “Disneyland Resort” for the past 14 years, is in the early stages of a renewal. Though the advancements are not yet visible, the happiest place on earth will no doubt experience nothing short of a transformation over the coming years – especially over the course of the next six decades. If guests who first walked through Walt’s Main Street, U.S.A. on opening day could see Disneyland today, they may not be able to identify much of anything surrounding the hub. Disneyland, as well as experiences around its periphery, have changed – many of them for the better. But what will 2075 resemble?

Envisioning Disneyland Resort’s next 60 years requires remembering the park’s origins, tracking recent developments, and imagining the possibilities of the future.

How do most of us find out about Disneyland for the first time? The television commercial, as antiquated as it may seem, represents an ideal vehicle for capturing its audience and compacting the most entertaining and persuasive content in 30 to 60 seconds.

As we recognize Disneyland’s 60th anniversary, we pay tribute to some of those commercials over the last many decades that prompted us to ask our families a simple question: “When can we go to Disneyland next?”

In honor of Disneyland‘s 60th Anniversary, Disney In Depth will dedicate each edition in July to Walt’s original park. Accordingly, it only seems fitting to notate some of the elements that make Walt Disney’s original playground so special.

This marks the first half of a two-part edition that recognizes 60 of my favorite things to do while spending time at the happiest place on Earth: Disneyland.
