It’s that special time of year again, New York Comic-Con has arrived. Running through Sunday, the annual event once contained to the Jacob Javits Convention Center now sprawls across Manhattan. Professional Day opened at 9:30 AM at the New York Public Library located at 5th avenue and 42nd Street and events are also emanating from the theater at Madison Square Garden and Hammerstein Ballroom. I spent most of Day 1 located at Hammerstein with the gang from IFC’s Stan Against Evil. The horror comedy begins its second season on November 1st, and creator, writer, and producer Dana Gould as well as stars Janet Varney (Evie) and Stan himself, John C. The idea sounded promising, especially when it touted a stellar cast like Tom Cruise and Javier Bardem, and it seemed like it had all the makings of a success. But The Mummy was panned by critics and was a box office bomb, leaving many to question if there was any need to explore a Dark Universe or kick it off with a reboot of a film so soon. So, at least for now, Universal and director Bill Condon have decided to hit the pause button on what was to be the next installment, Bride Of Frankenstein. More on the story below.

| Hit Animated Series ‘Bob’s Burgers’ To Get Its Own Movie
If an animated TV series becomes successful, chances of it eventually getting its own movie are fairly high. We’ve seen it happen over and over again—sometimes as theatrical releases (South Park, The Simpsons) and sometimes as straight-to-video or TV movies (Family Guy, Futurama). And now it’s happening with FOX’s hit animated title Bob’s Burgers. A release date for the animated feature has also been reserved, but fans will have a little bit of waiting to do. The movie is scheduled for release on July 17, 2020.
