$5 MP3 Album Deal: The Black Keys ‘Brothers’
As part of Amazon’s monthly $5 MP3 album deals for November 2012, The Black Key‘s Brothers is on sale for only $5.
If you would like a physical copy of Brothers, the CD is available for only $9.99.
Recorded in a cinderblock building in the middle of Alabama and released in 2010, Brothers is the sixth studio album recorded by the dynamic duo of Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney known as The Black Keys. The group’s success can be attributed to their constant touring, licensing their music to several retailers and also because they’re just that damned good. Their unique blend of rock, blues, funk, R & B, tricky beats and fuzzy optimism (yes, I can actually hear that last one) has mass appeal. The first single released from Brothers, “Tighten Up”, peaked at number three on the Billboard 200 and held the number one position on the Alternative Songs chart for 10 weeks. This MP3 also comes with a digital booklet. So much awesome for only $5!

$5 MP3 Album Deal: Bill Withers ‘Lean On Me: The Best Of’
Lean on Me: The Best Of, by Bill Withers, the compromising, enterprising, and actually IS also a tranquilizing singer/songwriter who mixes blues, R&B, folk, smooth jazz, and even a little funk into a gumbo to be heard by all, is now available in MP3 format from Amazon this month for only $5.
Bill Withers remains one of the most successful artists of the 1970s. He’s responsible for some of the great R&B pop songs of our or any age: the number one smash urban gospel assurances of “Lean on Me,” the funky and musically submissive “Use Me,” the sing-a-long “Grandma’s Hands,” the evocative and stripped down dawn breaking through morning dew on a trampled on heart musical musings of “Ain’t No Sunshine,” the uplifting and impossibly sustained vocal notes on “Lovely Day,” the memorable greeting card brought up to the highest level ballad “Just The Two Of Us,” and finally, the funky, get loose, get your groove on “˜fore you lose it “Who Is He And What Is He To You” and all the rest, this greatest hits collection and then some is essential for Billphiles, Billnovices, Billoholics, and Billjunkies. Upon a few times listening to this collection, you’ll become at least one of those, guaranteed.

$5 MP3 Album Deal: Joy Division ‘The Best of Joy Division’
As part of Amazon’s monthly $5 MP3 album deals for November 2012, Joy Division‘s The Best of Joy Division is on sale for only $5.
For a band that only existed for four years and recorded two full studio albums, Joy Division’s music has had a lasting influence on fans and musicians alike. Released in 2008, The Best of Joy Division contains tracks from both studio albums, plus singles that were released following the death of lead singer Ian Curtis, who committed suicide in 1980. Their haunting yet vibrant post-punk melodic rock sound and melancholy lyrics are filled with broken hearts, isolation, and despair, but also love, and transport you back to the idealistic days of bittersweet youth when all you wanted to do was to rebel against the establishment (whatever that meant) and your biggest problems were getting beer and getting laid. Key tracks are “Transmission,” “She’s Lost Control,” “Love Will Tear Us Apart,” and “Isolation.”
