Air Date: Saturday, June 25th, 2016, 9:00pm Last week’s Outlander felt just like the sweeping epic novels, with author Diana Gabaldon wielding her pen as if inside the war. The group was attacked, and Jamie, Claire (Sam Heughan, Caitriona Balfe), and their small band had to find refuge in a chapel. Poor Rupert (Grant O’Rourke) got shot in the eye, but survived (unlike the novel). They were surrounded, but played the tried and true, “Help! I’m a hostage!” card thanks to Claire again, and were able to bargain for their lives. The craziest part was that the soldiers brought her to the Duke of Sandringham’s (Simon Callow) place for safety, where Mary (Rosie Day) was staying too. He planned to marry her off. The Duke tried to get Claire to send for Jamie to help them both escape, but it was a trap. Even worse was that it was the Duke who was behind the attack in France. The episode ended in a satisfying crunch, as birthmark guy got stabbed by Mary, and Murtagh (Duncan Lacroix) came in and sliced and diced the Duke. Vengeance was his. Spoiler below,

Air Date: Saturday, June 18th, 2016, 9:00pm Last week on Outlander, the Jacobites and the Redcoats were at an impasse, and a giant swamp was blocking them. Dougal (Graham McTavish) managed to impress Prince Charles (Andrew Gower) by foolishly braving the bog to test the redcoat bullet range. It didn’t work, but a native to that area showed them a sneaky way around it. A vicious battle ensued and the Scottish were victorious, but they lost Angus. Dougal quickly lost the prince’s favor, when he wanted to massacre the POWs. He was exiled, but Jamie (Sam Heughan) stepped up for him. Claire (Caitriona Balfe) hugged Fergus (Romann Berrux) with relief and pain when he returned safe from the battle he had snuck into, but in shock because he killed a man. Spoilers below.

Air Date: Saturday, June 11th, 2016, 9:00pm Last week on Outlander, Claire (Caitriona Balfe) had severe WWII flashbacks in the midst of prepping the army, who are sorely in need of training. When she finally talked about it with Jamie (Sam Heughan), she felt a bit better, but war is ugly no matter who wins. One of the most pivotal moments in the books happened last week, as a young (John) William Grey was captured and spilled all for fear of Claire’s “honor.” Jamie spared him and he is now in his debt. Dougal (Graham McTavish) arrived at the camp with his men, and was really proud of Jamie for joining the cause. Of course, Dougal got in trouble often because he is Dougal. Jamie took a whipping and thus was an example of a true leader. Spoilers below.
