| Rumor: Ben Affleck Doesn’t Want To Be The Batman Anymore
Before we get into this, let’s just start by saying that this is just a rumor. There is no confirmation yet. But there is a rumor, and I emphasize the word rumor, that Ben Affleck doesn’t want to be Batman anymore. The actor has played the Dark Knight twice already, with his third being in the upcoming Justice League. He was poised to direct the hero’s standalone feature The Batman with a script he had written with Geoff Johns. However, he suddenly dropped out, forcing Warner Bros. to enter talks with Matt Reeves to take his place. More on the story below.

| WB and Ben Affleck Reportedly Happy With New ‘The Batman’ Script
There’s going to be a day where the sun will always shine on the DCEU. But today is not that day. The Batman is the latest film to be plagued by production problems. It was hit early on with a rumor from Bret Easton Ellis – which he backtracked later on – that WB did not like the script. Then Ben Affleck dropped out as director, after spending weeks seesawing his commitment. But now it has circled back to script issues. Affleck and Geoff Johns had worked on a script before it was handed off to Chris Terrio (Argo). Last week’s news that the studio would like to start the film with a fresh script was worrisome. Now, Justin Kroll of Variety is offering a different perspective. According to him, WB thinks the script is fine. More on the story below.

The LEGO Batman Movie

Cast: Will Arnett, Zach Galifianakis, Michael Cera, Rosario Dawson, Ralph Fiennes, Jenny Slate
Distributor: Warner Bros.
Rated PG | 104 Minutes
Release Date: February 10, 2017 It wasn’t that long ago when The LEGO Movie burst into movie theaters with a million of bricks and an equal amount of laughs. What looked liked a bad idea at first turned out to be interlocking blocks of bubble gum pop and child-like nostalgia. Its success would, of course, give way for sequels and spinoffs, because that’s how successful movies work nowadays. And now we are getting a taste of that with The LEGO Batman Movie. Sure enough, The LEGO Batman Movie proves that its predecessor was no fluke. It continues the tradition of capturing the child-like imagination of playing with these building blocks to construct a manically energized spinoff full of hilarious Batman references and self-deprecating humor. But it is also a visual bubble gum pop joy that has a heartfelt message and crazy action that can be damn near exhausting. But at the end of the day, The LEGO Batman Movie is a pure delight that even non-Batman fans will enjoy. Check out the full review below.

| ‘The Batman’ Could Be Getting A Brand New Script
In the weeks following Ben Affleck‘s exit as director of The Batman, Warner Bros. has been scrambling to find a replacement. This is the fourth director that has left a DCEU project. Last we heard, Argo writer Chris Terrio, who also did the rewrites for Batman v Superman and worked on the script to Justice League, took a pass on the script that was penned by Affleck and Geoff Johns. Though Affleck waffled, he has said that he wouldn’t commit to directing unless the script was up to his expectations. Now that he’s out, WB may have to start with a clean slate. More on the story below.
