Last time on The Vampire Diaries, we saw how Kai Parker (Chris Wood) escaped halfway from hell, via bell tolling. He started deteriorating and revealed evil intent (surprise) to Damon (Ian Somelhalder), before stealing away Elena’s coffin (and after promising to bring her back). Dorian kidnapped Stefan (Demetrius Bridges, Paul Wesley), and shot him for destroying his life in the past… then called Matt with regret. Stefan and Cade (Wolé Parks) had a talk when Stefan was on the brink of death, but Stefan wanted to live. Alaric told Caroline (Matthew Davis, Candice King) the girls were magically acting out.

The Vampire Diaries
Season 8 Episode 4: “An Eternity of Misery”
Directed by Rob Hardy
Written by Brett Matthews & Neil Reynolds
Created by Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec
Starring Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder, Kat Graham, Candice King, Zach Roerig, Matthew Davis, Michael Malarkey
The CW
Air Date: Friday, November 11th, 2016, 8:00pm

Last week on The Vampire Diaries, Sybil (Nathalie Kelley) played a little game – have Bonnie (Kat Graham) choose who should die, Damon or Enzo (Ian Somerhalder, Michael Malarkey). We all knew exactly who Bonnie would choose. Things got a little hairy, as Stefan kept jumping in the middle of the fight, because Damon made him his second. Stefan (Paul Wesley) was determined not to let either of them die. But once the ladies finally showed, Enzo chose Bonnie… by switching off his humanity. Then, predictably, Sybil went back on her word, Bonnie almost died and everyone ran. They did manage to capture Sybil with a giant tuning fork, but she still had Damon doing her bidding, which apparently included killing Tyler Lockwood (Michael Trevino).

Green HornetGreen Hornet Strikes #9
Written by Brett Matthews
Art by Ariel Padilla
Dynamite Entertainment
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: September 7, 2011

Dynamite Entertainment has done a very good job with the Green Hornet license since they got it a few years back. Green Hornet Strikes #9 is the second to last issue of the story of the Green Hornet of the future. It is a different take on the characters, but it still maintains all of the classic elements that make the Green Hornet memorable. White guy in a mask? Check. Sidekick who is a master of martial arts? Check. Big car? Check and mate. It’s familiar enough to feel comfortable, yet different enough to seem somewhat new and fresh.

Luke lives in a future Chicago that is ravaged by financial disaster and gang warfare. Into this world, he looks to right wrongs and set his own path as the new Green Hornet. As always, The Green Hornet pretends to be a bad guy in order to bring the really bad guys to justice. By this point in Green Hornet Strikes, Luke has met the Kato of the past, and been partnered up with a new Kato. He is now ready to make his final blow against an evil corporation that has kidnapped his would-be girlfriend.

Lone Ranger #23Lone Ranger #23
Written by Brett Matthews
Art by Sergio Cariello
Cover Art By John Cassaday
Colors: Marcelo Pinto
Lettered by Simon Bowland
Dynamite Entertainment
Release Date: August 18, 2010

Dynamite’s The Lone Ranger #23 is Part 7 of a storyline entitled “Resolve.” The first thing that catches your eye is the awesome John Cassaday artwork on the front cover. From page one, the story picks up as we see the Lone Ranger’s foe Butch Cavendish torturing a sheriff that he has kidnapped. The sheriff’s ordeal is shown throughout much of the book as the story alternates between those scenes and Lone Ranger and Tonto preparing themselves for a final showdown.

We also see a young Lone Ranger in this book, still a bit unsure of himself. Refreshingly, Tonto is portrayed as very capable and not constantly needing to be rescued by his “Kemo Sabe.” This is clearly not your father’s Lone Ranger and Tonto. Also, we see that the Lone Ranger has the potential for a romantic interest with a character named Linda. Brett Matthews has truly scripted a very unique interpretation of the Lone Ranger mythos.
