And so it comes to this. MTV’s Scream fell deep into a sophomore slump early on, but has been fighting its way with a series of good episodes heading down the stretch. Emma (Willa Fitzgerald) and Audrey (Bex Taylor-Klaus) killed the murderer, Piper Shaw (Amelia Rose Blaire) at the end of season 1, but someone has been continuing her bloody legacy. Legacy is the opportune word in Lakewood, a town known for its bloody legend, Brandon James. Piper, it turned out was Brandon’s daughter, Emma’s half sister. Could Brandon be seeking revenge for his daughter’s death? Sheriff Acosta (Anthony Ruivivar) thought so. But when he sent officers to the James family farm, they found the Mayor dead, and Emma and Audrey standing over the body, blood on their hands. Is the killer framing them as part of his games? Will the rest of the Lakewood 6 survive?

It’s time for the penultimate episode of Scream’s second season. Last week on MTV’s Scream Zoe (Kiana Lede) met a watery end, drowned in the same lake where Piper Shaw (Amelia Rose Blaire) was killed at the end of last season. Piper was season one’s killer, the daughter of Lakewood’s infamous Brandon James and his childhood crush Maggie, who happens to be Emma’s mom. Suddenly Piper’s corpse has turned up, and Maggie (Tracy Middendorf) and Sheriff Acosta (Anthony Ruivivar) believe that Brandon James may in fact be back to get revenge for his daughter’s murder. Makes sense as the two main targets of the killer this year have been Emma (Willa Fitzgerald) and Audrey (Bex Taylor-Klaus), the two that killed Piper. Of course there are a litany of other suspects, including the sheriff’s son Stavo (Santiago Segura), who has a dark past and loves drawing the Lakewood 6 being murdered. There’s also Eli (Sean Grandillo) who was last seen stalking Emma’s backyard late at night…

MTV’s Scream season 2 is limping towards the finish line. Of the Lakewood 6, only Jake (Tom Maden) was killed through the first 9 episodes, and he died in the premiere. Only a handful of minor characters have been killed off after that, and I am actually clueless to what is going on. It took until episode 9 to get some backstory that Ms. Lang (Austin Highsmith) was orphan buddies with Piper Shaw (Amelia Rose Blaire), season 1’s killer, and the half sister of heroine Emma (Willa Fitzgerald). Emma and Audrey (Bex Taylor-Klaus) found this out when a party at the old orphanage left Piper’s corpse set up for them, and a fresh body was hanging from the rafters. Noah (John Karna) and Zoe (Kiana Lede) sealed the deal, which may seal their deal if you know what I mean, while Brooke (Carson Young) is getting closer to troubled suspect Gustavo (Santiago Segura). That should have us caught up…

Last week, Emma (Willa Fitzgerald) nearly shot Kieran (Amadeus Serafini), but alas the killer’s plan backfired. Brooke (Carlson Young), my new favorite character (#brookeforfinalgirl), drunkenly told the town of Lakewood off for staging its yearly carnival in the middle of another run of murders, particularly so far, her boyfriend Jake (Tom Maden) and ex-lover and teacher Seth Branson (Bobby Campo). The killer is tormenting Audrey (Bex Taylor-Klaus) into confessing her secret tie-in with Piper to Emma, and Audrey is so stressed she is accidentally making herself the third wheel in Noah (John Karna) and Zoe’s (Kiana Lede) blossoming relationship. Thankfully for Noah, it hasn’t fully blossomed yet, because otherwise that would be instant death… you know if this show is still following Scream rules. It’s hard to tell since there have been 3 murders in 8 episodes and we still don’t know much about the actual story. We do know that the town elders are hiding something, so maybe it comes out tonight…

Last week, Emma (Willa Fitzgerald) continued her pathway towards becoming horror’s all time dumbest final girl, as she again ignored every natural instinct and went with sketchy Eli (Sean Grandillo) to “have some fun†since she’s mad at her boyfriend and his brother, Kieran (Amadeus Serafini). That’s right, the survivor of a serial killer, who is again being chased by another masked killer, while suffering from PTSD, takes off with the weird new kid to be alone in an abandoned house. The house, it turns out, isn’t fully abandoned as there are dead/dying bodies in the bathtub. One is Seth Branson (Billy Campo), Brooke’s former lover and potential suspect. Bad news for him, the house goes up in flames right after Eli puts the moves to Emma. Emma’s teacher Ms. Lang (Austin Highsmith), another potential suspect was also left for dead by the killer, in an attack geared to set up Brooke (Carlson Young). In other news, Audrey (Bex Taylor-Klaus) rescues Noah (John Karna) from a horror death sentence, by interrupting him and Zoe (Kiana Lede) in flagrante delicto.

After the discovery of Jake’s body, the Lakewood 6… make that 5, along with the rest of the students, were put on lockdown inside Lakewood High. Kieran (Amadeus Serafini) was freaked out because he had a gun concealed in his locker. He gets himself out of the situation by doing the least boyfriendy thing ever, by telling the cops Emma (Willa Fitzgerald) has Jake’s phone on her. Suffice to say, there is tension in their relationship. Audrey (Bex Taylor-Klaus) meanwhile, was convinced that Stavo (Santiago Segura) is the killer, ya know… since he enjoys drawing the Lakewood 6 in gruesome death mosaics on his tablet. She is scrambling since she is the one who has been in communication with the actual killer, a fact Noah (John Karna) picked up on. He “borrowed†her phone and discovered the surveillance video of her with Jake’s body. Was she Piper’s accomplice? Is she the killer? What does this mean for Bi-Curious and the Virgin???

Last week, Scream finally hit its stride with the best episode of the new season. After “Jake†left a bottle of expensive tequila on the porch for Kieran’s birthday, everyone drank and went on a crazy hallucinogenic trip. The killer spiked the bottle and set about attacking Emma (Willa Fitzgerald), except good ole dad (Tom Everett Scott) showed up right in time. Brooke (Carlson Young) had visions of Jake (Tom Maden) dancing through her head, which was better for her then what happened later, as the Lady of Lake finalists reveal was interrupted by a Carrie-esque blood shower and Jake’s lifeless body falling to the school stage. Now everyone knows and sees that the killing has not stopped and someone has taken up Piper Shay’s mantle. In the tradition of the season, all the episodes are named for classic horror films, tonight’s titled Dawn of the Dead.

Three episodes into the second season of MTV’s Scream and there’s been a lot of time spent on introducing new characters, and re-establishing the holdovers. Unfortunately, not much has been done to establish a new plot. Season 1 had the whole Brandon James storyline and the 20-year Lakewood mystery. This season all we have so far is a new killer continuing where Piper Shay left off, only this time focusing their text-torture on Audrey (Bex Taylor-Klaus) rather than Emma (Willa Fitzgerald). Audrey had some connection to Piper for the killer to hold over her, and she is running around Lakewood trying to clean up her tracks before her secrets get exposed. Emma meanwhile, is dealing with the reemergence of her father (Tom Everett Scott), whose hotel room is the scene of the killer’s latest murder. This week, it’s Kieran’s (Amadeus Serafini) birthday and the killer plans on crashing the party.

Last week in Scream… no one died. However, a corpse was found, so that counts. Audrey (Bex Taylor-Klaus) was communicating with season 1 killer Piper Shaw, so tried to clean up her tracks. When Noah (John Karna) told her about a secret storage unit Piper kept, she snuck off to investigate alone and found the disemboweled corpse of Jake (Tom Maden). Not knowing her boyfriend was dead, Brooke (Carlson Young) was preparing for a romantic night out with him. And Emma (Willa Fitzgerald) seemed to find the cure for her PTSD with a tryst with Kieran (Amadeus Serafini). However, her walk home was interrupted by a driver giving chase, who turned out to be her long lost father Kevin (Tom Everett Scott).
Spoilers ahead.

Second episode of the season, and the second one named for a horror flick. Emma (Willa Fitzgerald) returned to Lakewood last week after a time in a rehab center, and she’s being handled with kid gloves by her friends. Noah (John Karna) started a blog about the Piper Shaw murder spree and the Survivor 6, but fans of his blog may be taking things too seriously. A group organized a prank of Audrey (Bex Taylor-Klaus) at her movie theatre job, which almost had disastrous results. Audrey is now receiving texts and calls from an unknown stalker who seems to want to peg her as Piper’s apprentice and conspirator. Emma is haunted by dreams of an old farmhouse which turns out to belong to the brother of Brandon James, the infamous Lakewood killer. Meanwhile after Brooke dumps him in a pool, Jake (Tom Maden) is attacked by a new masked maniac and done in with a scythe. The Survivor 6 is down a man… and counting.
