Air date: Tuesday, August 16th, 2016, 10pm And so it comes to this. MTV’s Scream fell deep into a sophomore slump early on, but has been fighting its way with a series of good episodes heading down the stretch. Emma (Willa Fitzgerald) and Audrey (Bex Taylor-Klaus) killed the murderer, Piper Shaw (Amelia Rose Blaire) at the end of season 1, but someone has been continuing her bloody legacy. Legacy is the opportune word in Lakewood, a town known for its bloody legend, Brandon James. Piper, it turned out was Brandon’s daughter, Emma’s half sister. Could Brandon be seeking revenge for his daughter’s death? Sheriff Acosta (Anthony Ruivivar) thought so. But when he sent officers to the James family farm, they found the Mayor dead, and Emma and Audrey standing over the body, blood on their hands. Is the killer framing them as part of his games? Will the rest of the Lakewood 6 survive? Spoilers for the season finale of Scream below.

Air date: Tuesday, August 2nd, 2016, 10pm MTV’s Scream season 2 is limping towards the finish line. Of the Lakewood 6, only Jake (Tom Maden) was killed through the first 9 episodes, and he died in the premiere. Only a handful of minor characters have been killed off after that, and I am actually clueless to what is going on. It took until episode 9 to get some backstory that Ms. Lang (Austin Highsmith) was orphan buddies with Piper Shaw (Amelia Rose Blaire), season 1’s killer, and the half sister of heroine Emma (Willa Fitzgerald). Emma and Audrey (Bex Taylor-Klaus) found this out when a party at the old orphanage left Piper’s corpse set up for them, and a fresh body was hanging from the rafters. Noah (John Karna) and Zoe (Kiana Lede) sealed the deal, which may seal their deal if you know what I mean, while Brooke (Carson Young) is getting closer to troubled suspect Gustavo (Santiago Segura). That should have us caught up… Spoilers below for this week’s Scream.

The Messengers
Season 1 Episode 3: “Path To Paradise”
Directed by Cherie Nowlan
Written by Eoghan O’Donnell, Matt Pitts, Oanh Ly
Starring Shantel VanSanten, Sofia Black-D’Elia, Joel Courtney, JD Pardo, Jon Fletcher, Diogo Morgado, Anna Diop
The CW
Air Date: Friday, May 1st, 2015, 9:00pm Last week’s The Messengers found the group converging at a bar with a really cool and appropriate name – The Last Supper, seemingly by coincidence. Which is crazy because when they all previously found out about their group and mission in the hospital chapel, Rose (Anna Diop) reveals all, and they all leave roadrunner dust in their wake. Raul (JD Pardo) saves Erin (Sofia Black-D’Elia) from the cops. Remember – her abusive ex is a cop, who will use his influence to hurt her and take back their child. They do not get to the one-armed vet in Joshua’s (Jon Fletcher) vision in time. How will that affect the mission? This may be cheesy, but I do like the wings in the mirror effect.

The Messengers
Season 1 Episode 2: “Strange Magic”
Directed by Duane Clark
Written by Eoghan O’Donnell, Trey Callaway
Starring Shantel VanSanten, Sofia Black-D’Elia, Joel Courtney, JD Pardo, Jon Fletcher, Diogo Morgado, Anna Diop
The CW
Air Date: Friday, April 24th, 2015, 9:00pm The Messengers “awakened” last week, and this pilot about angels who have to save mankind from the impending apocalypse started pretty intriguing – emphasis on pretty. Before the review of this week’s episode, let’s give a little pilot recap. A meteor-like something crashes into Earth and the shockwave kills five people, who then come back to life with angel wings you can only see in a mirror. Peter (Joel Courtney), comes back and stands up to his bully, not realizing his new strength and kills him. Erin (Sofia Black-D’Elia), heals her daughter’s wounds, then steals her out of the hospital, away from her violent father. Vera (Shantel VanSanten) meets the devil (Diogo Morgado), who promises to bring her to her stolen son if she does a favor for him. Raul (JD Pardo) carjacks Erin, but her daughter is soft on him. And Joshua (Jon Fletcher), goes from being a run-of-the-mill televangelist, to one who knows the hellfire and damnation truth. Oh, and gross to his dad getting Joshua’s wife pregnant.

Air Date: Friday, April 17th, 2015, 9:00pm It’s time to try a new show! The Messengers premiered Friday night on The CW. It’s got 3 pros and 1 con as far as I can see. Pro – It’s on The CW, a network that hones supernatural dramas, with lots of action and emotion.
Pro – Pretty actors/actresses with familiar but not too familiar faces.
Pro – It’s about angels who have to stop the coming Apocalypse. Hello? I have to try it. Con – Airs Friday nights, a slow tv night. Hell, it’s a slow night for us too.
