Last week’s The Messengers found the group converging at a bar with a really cool and appropriate name – The Last Supper, seemingly by coincidence. Which is crazy because when they all previously found out about their group and mission in the hospital chapel, Rose (Anna Diop) reveals all, and they all leave roadrunner dust in their wake. Raul (JD Pardo) saves Erin (Sofia Black-D’Elia) from the cops. Remember – her abusive ex is a cop, who will use his influence to hurt her and take back their child. They do not get to the one-armed vet in Joshua’s (Jon Fletcher) vision in time. How will that affect the mission?
This may be cheesy, but I do like the wings in the mirror effect.
The Messengers 1.3 “Path To Paradise” review: The group seems to be on board with stopping the apocalypse, but Raul has something to do first – find his brother. Erin watches his niece. He is tempted by the devil (Diogo Morgado). Does he give in? And equally as important, does he find and save his brother?
Rose understands every language. She’s not sure about computer code, but she knows what God tells her. The task is to find The Four Horseman. They are starting with war. Peter (Joel Courtney) has another gift, although probably not heavenly endowed – he is really good with phone internet searches. And he is very unlucky at the end of this episode.
We find out a bit more about Vera (Shantel VanSanten). Her heart was broken by her son’s father. We are led to believe he didn’t know, as he left her spouting about “someone else.” She finds out nine years later when she happens upon his lab trying to find out about the mystery rock that the “someone else” was Huntington’s disease. That sucks! She did find her power though. It looks more like a burden than a gift. She may be spirit walking, but people around her think she’s dead. She’s going to be getting a lot of CPR, unless she learns to only do it at night in bed – alone.
Scary devil with the red eyes!
The show is still intriguing. It’s only episode three. I’m still waiting for everyone and everything to connect for me. The reason I feel a connection to JD Pardo is because I loved his character from Revolution. So I’m still not seeing him as this character just yet.
The question is: Which power would you like to have?
A) prophetic visions
B) super strength
C) spirit walking
D) understanding which includes every language – ever
E) healing
F) hearing thoughts
I’m torn between healing and understanding. What about you?
The Messengers air on Fridays at 9pm ET on The CW.
