Ash vs Evil Dead
Episode 1.3 “Books from Beyond”
Directed by Michael J. Bassett
Written by Sean Clements
Starring Bruce Campbell, Ray Santiago, Dana DeLorenzo, Jill Marie Jones, Lucy Lawless, Kelson Henderson, Ben Fransham
Starz
Air date: Saturday, November 14, 2015, 9pm Last week on my new favorite show, Ash vs Evil Dead, Ash (Bruce Campbell) and Pablo (Ray Santiago) followed Kelly (Dana DeLorenzo) home to her parents’ house where Ash correctly identified her Mom (guest star Mimi Rogers) as a deadite. Unfortunately, it was too late for dad, who took a fork to the eye en route to being buried in a mass grave in the front yard along with a beheaded mom. We open this week’s episode, 1.3 “Books from Beyond,” with Ruby (Lucy Lawless) driving a red sports car (of course), getting to the house after Ash and crew left. Dad tries a Carrie-esque scare, but Ruby ain’t having none of that. She proceeds to torture a deadite to get Ash’s location; even pulling out the dagger from Evil Dead II. I can’t wait for Ash and Ruby to be on screen together!

| ‘Ash vs Evil Dead’ Gets A Season 2 From Starz
Fans of The Evil Dead series were elated at the announcement that Bruce Campbell would be reprising his role as Ash for a new TV series on Starz titled Ash vs Evil Dead with director Sam Raimi and producer Rob Tapert also on board. The 10-episode season of 30-minute episodes meant that, after getting a little over four hours of Evil Dead goodness—not counting the ooey, gooey, and gory but Ash-less reboot a couple of years back—in the past 34 years, five new hours would be arriving in the span of just a couple of months beginning with the premiere episode on Halloween night. Now fans have something to be even more excited about. Three days before Ash vs Evil Dead even premieres, Starz has already officially greenlighted a season two.

| NYCC 2015: ‘Ash vs Evil Dead’ Panel With Bruce Campbell |
 |

Since New York Comic-Con has grown so big this year, some of the related events took place in the surrounding New York City area. After a near 2-hour wait on Saturday, I got into Hammerstein Ballroom, a concert venue three avenues away from the Jacob Javit’s Convention Center where thousands of Evil Dead and Bruce Campbell fans poured in to get their foam finger chainsaws and “Ash 4 President” buttons, and to relish in the moment. Having once waited four hours to meet Bruce Campbell at a horror convention, this was nothing too hard. Everyone was crazed and excited for one reason… ASH IS BACK! On Halloween night, Starz network is bringing director Sam Raimi‘s early ’80s horror classic franchise to the small screen with a new television series titled Ash vs Evil Dead. The panel featured all the important cast and crew, including director/EP Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell, Ray Santiago, Lucy Lawless (of Xena fame), Jill Marie Jones, Dana DeLorenzo, and showrunner Craig DiGregorio. The panel was hosted by Kevin Freaking Smith!!!

High Times senior editor Bobby Black recently sat down for a revealing video interview with the one and only Bruce Campbell. Campbell, of course, made a name for himself as Ash in the campy horror Evil Dead film trilogy from director Sam Raimi, and will be reprising his iconic role in the upcoming Starz television series Ash vs Evil Dead. In this High Times interview, Campbell talked about the new TV series, as well as gave his preference for things like joints vs. bongs, indicas vs. sativas, and chainsaw vs. boomstick. Watch the full interview here below!
