
You would be hard pressed not to hear any questions about the new Blade Runner film during the press tour for Ridley Scott‘s forthcoming Prometheus. There was a debate amongst fans if the film should be a sequel, a prequel, or something along the lines of Prometheus, but a new press release from Alcon Entertainment confirms for the first time that the film will be a sequel. It also offers a few new details about the film.
Hampton Francher, the original screenwriter who penned the first Blade Runner, has been hired to develop, not write, an original story, according to Warner Bros. As some of you may know, Blade Runner is based on Philip K. Dick‘s novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? So just how original the story is while staying true to Dick’s universe remains to be seen.
