Avengers Defenders possible crossover

When it was announced that Marvel would be expanding the MCU on Netflix by airing four series based on heroes of New York City, it was hoped that such an expansion would mean that said heroes would appear in the final two Avengers filmssoon to be retitled. But finding a way to fit 67 characters into the two films would be problematic and highly unlikely to happen.

But having all the characters from the films and television would be a true comic book movie event of epic proportions. Now that Captain America: Civil War has had its hugely successful opening weekend, writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely recently talked about the possibility of the crossover happening in the two upcoming Avengers: Infinity War films once more. Check out what they had to say below.

Avengers: Infinity War Title Card

With the Marvel Cinematic Universe being as expansive as it is, there is more then plenty of room for characters from other films to cross over into the TV side. We saw a little bit of that in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. with Lady Sif and Nick Fury, but rarely do the characters from the TV world ever make an appearance in the films. Now with the MCU expanding its TV series with four new titles (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist) that will culminate into a Defenders miniseries as a part of the Netflix deal, there has been growing expectations for the Marvel Television series of ABC Studios and Netflix to leap to the big screen.

Of course that would be a delight for fans for any number of reasons, but just giving everyone from all those series the right amount of screentime would be a tall order. And that’s where Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War co-director Anthony Russo comes in. As much as we would all like to see a crossover of that magnitude happen, the director says that we shouldn’t get our hopes up. More on the story below.

The Avengers Post-Credits Scene

This week marked big changes for Marvel Studios. Marvel Entertainment CEO Isaac “Ike” Perlmutter lost his power over the superhero studio that has grossed over $7 billion dollars in seven years, leaving Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige to report to Disney Head Of Live-Action Movies Alan Horn. Perlmutter will retain oversight on Marvel Television, but the restructuring meant that Kevin Feige would have more control over budgets, casting, etc when it comes to everything Marvel Studios. It’s not clear what this could mean for the overall shared universe with the films being connected with TV. But I’ve heard that there isn’t much of a connection between the two parties at all. But that is besides the point.

Now it appears that the shake-up isn’t over yet, and this could be a big one. There are two reports coming out saying that Marvel’s Creative Committee – their version of the Pixar Brain Trust – will now dissolve. More on this story below.

Kevin Feige

While most would think that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige is the top man who reports to Disney CEO Bob Iger, that really isn’t the case. He actually reports to Marvel Entertainment CEO Isaac “Ike” Perlmutter, a reclusive executive who is known for micromanaging the superhero entertainment giant. However, Feige has expressed frustration at the working relationship. So after venting said frustration to Iger and Disney live-action head Alan Horn, the company did some corporate restructuring, which gives Perlmutter less control over Marvel Studios and more to Feige.

More on the story below.
