Drew Goddard World War Z Header

The third and final act of Marc Forster‘s adaptation of the Max Brooks novel, World War Z, seems to be littered with problems of all kinds. So many problems are infecting this film, that they had to bring Damon Lindelof to pen the rewrites.

Lindelof, however, was unable to complete the task, and now the job of completing the third and final act of the film is in the hands of Cloverfield and Lost writer and Cabin in the Woods co-writer/director, Drew Goddard.

Max Brooks (left) On Sons Of Guns

Max Brooks, author of popular zombie books such as World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War and The Zombie Survival Guide, paid a visit to the Discovery Channel show Sons of Guns for its season finale.

In the episode, which first aired April 18th, Brooks stepped up to a challenge by Red Jacket Firearms to see who can create the ultimate zombie-killing gun.

You can see two videos from the episode below—one of Brooks first arriving and trying out some starting point guns; the other of teams designing their perfect zombie-killer—and you can catch the episode either on Discovery or on demand.

Zombies: A Living History

The History Channel will premiere Zombies: A Living History tonight, October 25, 2011, at 8pm.

The two-hour documentary will explore the origins of zombie myths and lore, from the Viking Age to the Black Death in Europe, both of which spawned legends of the dead walking the earth, and all the way up to the present day fears of a zombie apocalypse.

‘Breaking Bad’ Star Bryan Cranston Set To Join Brad Pitt On ‘World War Z’

It’s being reported that Bryan Cranston, the Emmy Award–winning star of AMC’s Breaking Bad, is in negotiations to join Brad Pitt on the cast of the post–apocalyptic zombie flick, World War Z.

Who Cranston would be playing is not yet known, but it’s said to be a “small but notable” character. It’s also unknown whether the actor would be taking on the role once filled by either Ed Harris or Matthew Fox””both of whom departed the project not long after being cast.

Check That: Ed Harris And Matthew Fox Will NOT Be In ‘World War Z’

Not too long ago it was reported that Matthew Fox and Ed Harris had joined Brad Pitt on the cast of World War Z, the post–apocalyptic zombie movie told from the perspectives of some of those fighting to survive, which is based on the Max Brooks book of the same name.

As things tend to go from time to time in good ol’ Hollywood, these castings haven’t exactly worked out. Vulture is reporting that Fox has decided not to appear in the movie due to a scheduling conflict with the Tyler Perry–starring I, Alex Cross. As for Harris, it’s currently unclear why the actor was unable to take the job.
