The $10 t-shirt deal of the day over at RIPT Apparel is a mash-up of the Marvel comics character Iron Man and heavy metal musician Ozzy Osbourne called “Metal Man” by CoD Designs. The sale at RIPT began today, Sunday, April 1, 2012, at midnight CST, and will continue for 24 hours from then, and once it’s over, it will not be sold on the site anymore.

| Remembering Guitar Legend Randy Rhoads |

Today marks the anniversary of the death of one of hard rock and heavy metal’s true guitar heroes, Randy Rhoads. Rhoads, who found massive success with Ozzy Osbourne’s first solo band back in 1980, after starting his career in an early version of Quiet Riot, died on March 19, 1982, a victim of a plane crash accident deep in the state of Florida while on tour with Ozzy. His death propelled him into the same vanguard as other legendary guitarists who also had their careers cut short by tragedy, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Duane Allman and of course, Jimi Hendrix. But like those guitarists, it wasn’t just the fact that Randy Rhoads dying young cemented his and their legendary status. They were all well on their way to the pantheon of musical genius while still alive. But by dying young, all of them suddenly elevated into a “frozen in time” moment, a moment in which the possibilities of growing old and possibly tame, eluded them all.

| Black Sabbath Guitarist Tony Iommi Diagnosed With Cancer |

Tony Iommi, long-time guitarist of Black Sabbath, has been diagnosed with lymphoma — a type of cancer that attacks the lymphocytes of the immune system. According to reports from Iommi and Black Sabbath, he is being consulted by doctors currently to determine the best course of treatment for the diagnosis. The information has shocked fans of the iconic metal band, often cited as the founders of the metal genre, which comes not long after the band announced their reunion with the original line-up. It also comes 18 months after the loss of vocalist Ronnie James Dio, who was also battling cancer.

Today, December 3, 2011, heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne celebrates his 63rd birthday! He may be into pensionable age now, but the Prince Of Darkness shows no signs of slowing down. Just weeks ago it was announced that he will reunite once again with his Black Sabbath bandmates Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward for a new album and extensive tour next year.
