The summer of 2015 is shaping up to be one of the biggest summers in movie history, with movies like Star Wars Episode VII, The Avengers 2: Age of Ultron, Batman vs. Superman, Ant-Man, Terminator 5, Assassin’s Creed, and many others expected to be released. Jurassic Park IV—now officially titled Jurassic World—just joined the party as well.

The summer is so crowded, other big franchises are taking a step back. The fifth installment in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, officially titled Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, was also scheduled for a summer 2015 release, but Disney has decided to push it back to 2016 instead.

An official titled for the fifth installment of Disney’s juggernaut Pirates of the Caribbean franchise has been revealed.

In a recent interview about their Academy Award-nominated Kon-Tiki, Norwegian directors Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg revealed that the title of the next Pirates movie will be Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

2015 will be one huge year for the Disney company. In addition to two Pixar films, The Avengers 2 and Star Wars: Episode VII, the entertainment company will release Pirates of the Caribbean 5. The film has gone without a director for quite some time, and it almost seemed like it wouldn’t make its tentative July 10, 2015 release.

Now, Deadline is reporting that Kon-Tiki directors Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg are signed on to direct next installment, written by Jeff Nathanson.

Disney is setting itself up to be a force to be reckoned with for the next few years. That is because they have shifted a couple of dates for some of the biggest tentpoles. In 2014, we’ll be seeing a new Muppets, two Marvel flicks, a live-action reimagining of a classic fairy tale, and Brad Bird‘s 1952.

If that wasn’t enough to whet your appetite, the 2015 slate should make you really happy. In 2015, we’ll be seeing Pirates 5, The Avengers 2, Ant-Man, not one but two Pixar films, and a little something called Star Wars Episode VII. Pretty neat.

The Wrap is reporting that superstar Johnny Depp is close to signing a deal that would see him returning to the role of Jack Sparrow for the currently untitled Pirates of the Caribbean 5.

The news comes just as the fourth film in the franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, passed $1 billion worldwide in box office revenue, making it even less shocking than it was before the milestone was passes. The $250 million blockbuster only brought in $234 million domestically, but soared to just under $775 million overseas.
