Star Wars is entering a new age within its own legacy. These new films have become much more diverse in characters and in tone since being acquired by Disney. With Star Wars: The Last Jedi just a few weeks away from release, director Rian Johnson was tasked with continuing J.J. Abrams’ The Force Awakens story. While it may sound like he was confined to a certain narrative, Johnson never forgot that this ultimately was a Star Wars movie. Geeks of Doom had a chance to sit down with their fellow journalists to talk to the director and cast about the upcoming film, how it may differ from The Force Awakens and other sequels in general, and how making it has impacted their lives. | ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ Newcomers On Their Experience Joining An Iconic Legacy
As with every sequel, there must be new additions to keep the story moving forward. That is no different with Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which not only has new characters but also a new director in Rian Johnson. These new characters will aid or hinder each other in different ways whether it’s the First Order making a power move to annihilate the Resistance or some infighting within the Resistance. The last two Star Wars films have set the December weekend opening box office number bar high. Both The Force Awakens and Rogue One had record-breaking numbers and exceeded all expectations. Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis) is a powerful figure in the current Star Wars saga without having to display much power at all. When we first saw him in The Force Awakens, he was all but a holographic figure that displayed him as a scarred man dropped in a robe. General Hux (Domhnall Gleeson) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) often consulted with him to figure out their next plan of attack. While he was larger than life as a hologram, new images have shown him to be real and very imposing. And now, we’re learning just how powerful he really is and why the man looks so tortured. | ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’: Crystal Foxes Will Be The Light That Will Guide Our Heroes
Those cute and cuddly porgs may be the thing that everyone is excited about, but they aren’t the only creatures we will be seeing in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. There are also those mysterious crystal foxes, which have gone virtually unnamed since we first saw them in the second trailer. But in EW’s week-long coverage of the highly anticipated Star Wars film, we are learning more about these foxes.
