With the return of HBO’s Westworld coming sometime in April, fans of the smash hit show crowded the Austin Convention Center ballroom during SXSW 2018 in hopes that its stars and showrunners might offer hints of what’s to come. And they weren’t disappointed.

The panel was moderated by WIRED’s Jason Tanz, who introduced showrunners Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, and stars Evan Rachel Wood (Dolores Abernathy), Thandie Newton (Maeve Millay), James Marsden (Teddy Flood), and Jeffrey Wright (Bernard/Arnold) to the stage.

I think we can all agree, the rise of fitness-minded products, services, and trendy exercise activities (like goat yoga or punk rock aerobics) is a topic that’s rife with potential for ridicule and humor.

That’s also the basis behind new web series Gym Buddies, which follows the tale of Aparna (Nikita Redkar), a social-media obsessed millennial stereotype in her 20s, as she sets out on a huge healthy lifestyle change prompted by a recent breakup. She enlist her best friend Quinn (Chelsea Lane) to be her designated gym bud, to which Quinn begrudgingly agrees to.

As a huge fan of HBO‘s Westworld, and producer of Geeks Of Doom‘s own Westworld podcast, Violent Delights, the concept to actually visit Westworld’s town of Sweetwater was nothing short of a fan’s dream come true. HBO’s team made that dream a reality with their SXSWestworld experience this year at Austin’s SXSW.

Creators of the upcoming Syfy series Krypton were on hand at DC’s pop-up SXSW store this weekend to share what fans can expect from a Superman TV show, which doesn’t actually include Superman himself.

For those living under a rock, Krypton is a prequel series set about 200 years before the explosion of the planet Krypton, which comic geeks will know is the event that led to baby Kal-El to be sent off in a rocket headed for Earth. As such, the show will focus on Superman’s grandfather Seg-El, father Jor-El, and a smattering of characters from the greater DC universe. And since the planet Krypton orbits a red sun, Kryptonians won’t exactly have the sort of powers we’re used to seeing in Metropolis, so to speak. Still, Krypton‘s show creators explained that this makes for fertile ground when it comes to storytelling.
