*UPDATE BELOW*

A few days ago, a trailer for a video game called Dead Island was released. Before too long, it was everywhere you looked and people were clearly excited by what they were seeing (Read: Must Watch: Haunting Trailer For Zombie Video Game “˜Dead Island’ Will Leave You Speechless).

The game is an open-world action RPG video game set on an island where a zombie outbreak occurs, leaving the player to use what they can find to survive and fight off the relentless corpses. No gameplay is shown in it and as far as anyone can tell it has nothing to do with the actual game, but it’s so well-done you just can’t help but be impressed.

Because of the popularity of this trailer, Sean Daniel has decided not to wait around and see how well the actual game goes. The producer and his banner, The Sean Daniel Company, have acquired the rights to turn the game into a movie.

A new video game trailer has hit the web, and it has a lot of people buzzing.

The trailer is for a game called Dead Island, and it’s about zombies. It’s developed by Techland, the team behind two personal favorites of mine: Call of Juarez and Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood. The game has been in development for multiple years now, but with the release of this new trailer, Dead Island is officially on the radars of gamers everywhere.

Every once in a while a trailer really stands out for one reason or another, and this is one of those times. It’s a cinematic, so no actual gameplay is shown, but it’s presented in an almost Memento-esque short story format. It also hits an extremely dark point that very few others would have the nerves to showcase, and it’s this point that is all but guaranteed to strike an emotional chord with you the viewer.

You can see the new cinematic trailer for Dead Island by heading below now. You can also find a few new screenshots from the game as well.

Before Red Dead Redemption arrived, very few western games existed, let alone ones that could be enjoyed. Red Dead took it to an entirely different level — something that western fans have been itching to get their hands on for a long while now — but before its arrival only a couple were worth even trying out, including GUN and the duo of Call of Juarez and its prequel, Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood.

The Call of Juarez games and GUN certainly aren’t anything that were bound for video game supremacy, but if you’re as much of a sucker for westerns as I am, they’re a ton of fun. Great western settings, stories, and of course music, were all that was needed to offer up a worthwhile gaming experience in the old west.

When Red Dead did arrive and showed how incredible and magnificent a western game could be, one could have assumed that it would push those planning to make their own western games or sequels to existing franchises such as the ones mentioned above to make the biggest and best games they could make. But is that the case?

It’s been announced that a third title in the Call of Juarez franchise is now officially on the way, but the game, which is titled Call of Juarez: The Cartel (click the image above for full game cover), might not be exactly what fans were hoping they would one day play.
