| Jack White To Score ‘The Lone Ranger’
Trent Reznor and Jonny Greenwood have been known to dabble in conducting a few notable soundtracks. Renzor, whose most recent work can be heard on David Fincher’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, earned himself an Academy Award for his work on Fincher’s The Social Network. Though Greenwood’s work for There Will be Blood was deemed ineligible for an Academy Award – due to use of pre-existing material – the soundtrack did earn itself a Grammy nomination for Best Score Soundtrack Album For Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media. Now its time for former White Stripes lead Jack White to step up and conduct the score for major a movie soundtrack. Disney Studios announced today that White will be making his first score conduction with the Gore Verbinski-directed The Lone Ranger.

| Johnny Depp Reveals The Inspiration Behind His Tonto Look In ‘The Lone Ranger’ |
 |

The release last month of the first image of Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer in character from next summer’s big-budget western adventure The Lone Ranger didn’t particularly set the world on fire. One of the major question marks surrounding the troubled production was how Depp would look as the Ranger’s faithful Indian companion Tonto. In the months before the release of the first Pirates of the Caribbean, images of Depp in character as Captain Jack Sparrow led skeptics to believe the eclectic actor had gone off the deep end and the movie would be an epic bomb for Disney. Instead Pirates was a blockbuster smash that finally made Depp a bona fide movie star and spawned a billion-dollar franchise for the Mouse House. It also established the quirky and roguish Captain Jack as the first iconic movie hero of the 21st century. Pretty soon the stylish swashbuckler would become a popular Halloween costume as well. Depp had taken an unusual approach in his ideas for the character’s look, much to the consternation of studio executives already sweating over the movie’s gargantuan (for 2002/3) budget and the nagging uncertainty of a pirate movie, much less one based on one of their famous theme park rides, but the gamble paid off handsomely.

The Lone Ranger #4 is another can’t-miss issue. With so many stories going on at once, you never get lost or confused for a minute while reading this excellent comic. For the fourth month in a row, it’s another home run for this book! Writer Ande Parks crafts a fantastic story this issue with lots going on. There’s about four different tales going on at once, including a fantastic origin of a main character!!! Be SURE to pick this one up, because I have a feeling it’s going to be very important down the road. This issue really transcended my love of the PROPERTY of The Lone Ranger, and solidified my love for this as a COMIC BOOK. At this point, Parks has you invested in these characters, that you don’t even think of them as TV, movie, or radio characters. You just read it because it’s a great comic.

The Lone Ranger #3 could be the last issue of the series and I really wouldn’t care. OK, I’d care A LOT. But in a different way. The creative team has packed everything that I’ve wanted this comic to be into just three issues. I’m happy as a clam all ready. What more do I need? I’m sure I’ll find out in about a month. Someone get writer Ande Parks to Chicago so I can buy him a drink. I know, I know, a lot of you think I’m just paying lip service to the guy, but if you actually took the time to read the book, you’d understand. As I mentioned before, in just three issues he’s delivered on everything that I’d wanted out of the Lone Ranger comic. Heck, he even threw in my favorite move from western movie — the punch a guy with one hand and and catch his gun with the other movie. Classic.
